So for my upcoming testing, they'd like to have the fibers in the lineup as well. They're really uncomfortable with temporary testing and so they'd like to actually fly up to help me set up the jammers on the test site and observe the testing. They're not going to active participate in the test itself, but they'd like to make sure it's installed right and if anything goes wrong, to be able to learn what's going on. It's going to be tough to reproduce issues, particularly with a temporary install. So yeah, Stinger jammers should be in the lineup too.

Now I gotta get ahold of some K40 jammers, pick a date, and get more people to help me with the actual test.
I mean if they’re willing to come to you then I don’t see why not, right? Let them set everything up to their liking such that they can’t make any excuses if punch throughs occur. And if it takes them 10 tries to get things right then I’d say that’s fair game to be posted publicly and discussed as well. Overall I’d say it’s a step in the right direction if they want the support of the community.

Do you have an approximate timeline as to when the testing will occur? May? June? July?

Ideally the second half of May sometime. I'm heading back to Portland for the day on Thursday to get some last few things done on my car and then I'll be ready to go. After that it's a matter of getting the equipment, setting aside a day for remote RD testing and another day for laser testing, and then getting people here to help me test.

For the laser side, because there'll be SO many systems (ALP 3 Rx, ALP 2 Rx 1 Tx, TMG, Escort, Stinger, hopefully K40, and TPX), along with something like 6 guns, shooting DHL/CM/PHL with each gun/jammer combo, plus testing out the removable perspex covers, it's a LOT of testing. I'd love to have two shooters so I can test running back and forth in both directions on the course, effectively cutting the total testing time in half.

That's a good point. With the Stinger fibers, I've never quite understood exactly how to install the heads to get them to work optimally. We know the rules of thumb with how to optimize a normal laser jammer head, but things are different with split transmitters and receivers, not to mention it's just a different jammer in the first place.

That said, assuming Stinger can create something to let people know how the heads should be installed, then a test like this would be helpful to let us know the capabilities of the install. I guess it's similar to testing an ALP and having it fail only because of a poor install, right? That wouldn't be fair to the ALP so the same would apply here.
That's definitely a good point. I think the key here is that if BRD/ALP personally performed an install, we should take the results with a grain of salt in terms of how they'd translate to other cars. That's more akin to what Stinger is suggesting. It's still a very good data point because if the vendor can't make their system perform well, then how can other customers expect so?

But before we tell everyone "hey we recommend you to go buy Stinger Laser", I think the litmus test is to have others (whether that means customers, enthusiasts, or just trained install shops) replicate the same results on other cars.

For Tx laser fibers, sometimes it's as nuanced as "move this one Tx head up a few degrees from level". More or less voodoo. At least with ALP, most of the failures we've seen boil down to fairly intuitive causes that we know how to fix (sensors not level, too far apart, recessed, etc).... Will the new Stinger Lasers be similar? Only time will tell.

Good news. I just got the shipment notification. Stinger Fibers are in the mail and will be here tomorrow. Lidar guns are en route now as well. This weekend should be fun. :)

On that note, this week I’m gonna work on the videos and writeup from the remote RD test this weekend and get that all done before moving on to laser this next coming weekend.

Can't wait to see your results @Vortex, I have a LAB not a Freedom, performance has always been pretty flawless on the LAB. I'm hoping the Freedom is up to snuff, as I may wind up changing to it fairly shortly.

I'm also looking forward to their results. What laser threats do you run against? I've got a LAB and 3 laser square pairs that did fine center mass, but headlight coverage was always pretty bad even with the RX's next to the headlights. VPR Stalker was IPT everywhere, I don't think they could even jam it. This was on v4.0.x though, so maybe they've improved their laser performance since then?

I'm tempted to try installing my squares again on my current car, they'll fit my honeycomb grill without modifications or leveling... but I need to see some encouraging results, and who knows if the fiber results will correlate to the squares.

I’m curious too. With the setup I had with LAB it was shocking how some guns it felt bulletproof and then other guns even directly shooting the RX or TX sensors it was nearly IPT.

I would definitely like to see this product succeed. We need more options in the laser CM space especially.

For starters LAB 14 not 13, also I don't face VPR guns. It's been solid against PL2/PL3/PL4, all forms of UL, Poliscan and S350.

Fibers have arrived! They're a little different than the previous gen design. New heads, new laser computer, etc. I posted some unboxing photos in a new thread.
