It still stays open just like running it normally. I have to clear it out of my app switcher when I get out of the car.Maybe it won’t stop working in the background constantly, now?
Wait, what? Waze can now be used when the phone is locked? So I can have my phone in my pocket and get police alerts through the car's speakers via Bluetooth?...it can now run while the device is locked
I wonder if that's a hardware limitation with certain iPhone models? I have an iPhone X now, I used to have apps close on me frequently with my old iPhone 6.Mine if you start a route and then switch apps or lock the phone, it’s a toss up whether you’ll ever get another direction from it. If I tap the icon or switch to the app, it comes up with the app logo and loads from scratch and then asks if you want to resume your previous trip. Maybe wit CarPlay it’ll keep it running instead of kicking it to the curb. Never have this problem with Google Maps.
I'm a new Waze user, and just noticed this yesterday. I had a Police (hidden) alert pop up, and the next time I reported a LEO I didn't see any choice as to how to report it so was wondering where that selection is found. Apparently it isn't there, or must be buried somewhere, in the CarPlay display. When running into multiple LEOs, I would preload Police and then only need to hit, Visible, Hidden, or Other side to mark them immediately. These choices are now gone in Apply Car Play. I tap Police, then on the next screen the only choice is Police. Can't select Visible, Hidden, or Other Side plus can't preload or wait as the second I tap police it fires it off and marks it.
I have run though my Waze settings in the iPhone and they are all where they were when I was using the iPhone by itself with the now missing features. Anybody else seeing this behavior while using Waze on a vehicle head unit with Apple Car Play?
