Bought an ex off kasher, updated it to 1.12
Currently traveling from Indiana to California to Arizona and back to Indiana. So far it's been pretty quiet, a couple of bsm blasts and a few Ka pickups.

Segged 2/5/8
K on
Tsr rdr off
Gps
Autolearn on

I'll update as the journey goes.

Quiet is good. How's the range compared to your R3?

Hard to say, I'm still learning the settings to tweak it too my liking, it's not bad, definitely not as sensitive as my R3, I don't like the I/o k band blasts from bsms. Scared the crap out of me as I hooked it to an external speaker to hear it over the road noise of this RV.

I'm not speeding any, just recon and tagging speed traps along the way. Plucked out three tonight on i80 in Nebraska. Also activated seg 6 as well, got the sensitivity set to auto to keep it quiet. The automute completely kills the sounds though because I want to hear the ramp up.

Range is maybe 80% of the r3 and better than the 360 by far. So far I'm happy with it other than those kband bursts.
Don't want to post pics of it mounted since it's hidden and they're not allowed in a cmv. It'll give away my hiding spots I use. At least not here in the general public area.

Testing in April showed it was crucial to keep the IX perfectly level to get the maximum Ka range. For run 1 it was nose down a very small amount, as a result it couldn't detect in the longest detection zone (a terrain limited course with a big dead spot between 6k feet and 12k feet). We leveled it and it alerted for runs 2 and 3 in the 13K foot zone. We de-leveled it and performance took a hit of a couple hundred feet. So leveling seems to really affect the EX series.

I'm OCD about a detector being level. I eyeball it directly from behind to check alignment. Plus it's mounted about ten feet up from the ground in this vehicle

And its not easy to get really perfectly level in all vehicles. The way the adjustment knob works, you can only adjust to the available locking points, and they are 2-3 degrees apart. In my car its either pointing up or down a few degrees because of this.

Absolutely. That super sticky cup mount is terrible; obviously designed by a moron.

If you're not making multiple passes on your journey, autolearn wont make a difference. If you're constantly driving by a K band false source, then it does help. Most likely, if you're on a sojourn in the RV, it wont help anyway. IVT is what'll help make a difference in BSM falsing.

BUT that magnetic mount is to die for!!

I'm in Nevada now, k band speed sign off in the distance, in highway mode, I see the sign before the ex even detects it...not impressed.

Speed signs are notoriously unreliable for testing. Many are modulated (eg FMCW) in order to do traffic studies (vehicle count, direction, average speed), and most modern radar detectors will do their best to filter them out. Could just be the EX filtering the speed sign until the signal is strong enough to punch through. Only testing with actual police K band guns will tell for sure.

I come across a lot of signs like that, if The EX does alert, its fairly close to the source - or the 2 new ones near me it wont alert until I pretty much pass them.

Most of the new signs I am seeing have a small Blue LED light right in the center of the sign - all those are hit or miss on the detection.

I don’t run K for that reason. Every semi truck sets it off. Plus other false alarms.

Sorry to barge in here- the EX mount is sticky like the fly paper Unidens? Or is it a vacuum mount where you pull the lever down to tighten?
