Can't wait to see some testing is done see how this competes with dfr6 and dfr7 along with the other detectors

I watched the videos and wasn't too impressed. Especially that K band video. It appears that the detector only alerts a couple of seconds before the kill zone.

That terrain should yeild some nice long detections but it still felt a little short. I think Vile guy likes to go under the speed limit to give the detector an illusion of longer warning.

The problem is he uses the same terminology if he’s testing a Uniden or Escort or Whistler or Cobra. They all sound good....

I wasn’t too impressed with the CR97 from the videos, and I would definitely like to see how the CR97 compares to the competition in some testing. The Veil Guy likes Whistler a lot. He has an old You Tube video doing a review on the older CR85 and CR90 (I think it was with Danny@buyradardetectors.com)
that makes the old CR85/CR90 sound like they were some of the best on the market at the time. Several times he compared the old Whistler models as being the equal or near equal of the V1 which I laughed when I heard that. I don’t have anything against the Veil Guy, but in his reviews he doesn’t “keep it real” like Vortex does (in my opinion).

Can I please ask why he mounts the unit so low on his test?

I've always wondered that myself. Most all of his videos show it mounted there. Seems like it wouldn't get a good signal being relatively even with the hood.

Probably for ease of getting both the detector and road on camera. I believe Vortex does the same when making a video of a detector, but runs it high during normal use.

It does look like the front of the detector may be partially obscured by the hood and/ or the windshield wiper. I would have it mounted at least a little higher. Maybe it does have a clear view, but it is hard to tell from the camera angle.

According to this email I received from Whistler today, the CR 97 is a RadarBusters exclusive:

As such, VG has a vested interest in promoting the detector as he directly benefits from sales, and any testing results should be taken with a grain of salt.

A quick forum search for "RadarBusters" will tell you all you need to know about the company as well. Caveat emptor.

i'm taking one on a road trip friday to denver and back. it had some updates that are suppose to make it better on k band filtering, but still get good range on "real" k band.
Not sure I will see any legit k band, but we shall see

I wasnt aware of any KA falses, I hope to get some good encounters Friday, and pass them on.

if it gets good results low like that, it should get even better up high

@Run4donut i watched the video a half dozen times, and i dont mean to sound argumentative but explain how that wasnt a good detection. The cop was sitting on the on ramp using i/o, he/she was shooting the white car maybe a half mile in front of Bob's car, I dont see anything much as far as reflective objects, maybe the yellow yield sign, the sign above the highway going the other way, maybe the guard rail but that would have shoot off to the side. Anyway, whatever short blast there was, the cr97 was able to see it before the cop turned it back off.
The next alerts looks like the cop hit the dark car going around bob, just long enough to get some tracking history. What am I missing that you feel like it's a bad detection, with all due respect

I wasn’t aware until just a few days ago that The Veil Guy was affiliated with Radar Busters.

@Bossdad71

My take on that encounter was neither good or bad. Yes, the detector alerted before the kill zone. Yet the detector was was closer to the radar gun than the target vehicle. Approximately 5 seconds after the initial alert VG points out the leo. Lets say 5 more seconds and VG was in direct clocking range of the leo. So total of 10 seconds to react to a hidden threat in a tricky spot at highway speeds. Now VG appears to be going the speed limit because the leo fired his next shot once the black car passed. So if VG was over the limit how much time would he actually have to slow down? That's the big question. VG already spotted the leos before filming. I wonder what the initial encounter was like.

I'm surprised it doesn't say "Epic Save!" after being I/O'd.
