Anyone else having issues w/ being unable to long press overlay to lockout?

I'm not sure what is going on but I have unchecked and rechecked the option as well. I don't want to clear data/cache in fear of losing my lockouts. This is a new phone but I believe my S8+ and note 3 did this before my essentials PH1. I'm on android 8.1 and running version 2.0.3 of YaV1.
Any input would be appreciated or any other troubleshooting I can do. I do have a green GPS icon too.

I would highly recommend checking out JBV1 or V1Driver as an alternative to YaV1. It won't take long to re-learn your lockouts, and you'll benefit from the constant development and tons of new features both apps have compared to YaV1. I was a die-hard YaV1 fan for a long time, but once I gave JBV1 a shot I haven't looked back!

I wasn't aware there was an alternative. So YBV1 does not allow lockout import/export? I take my V1 in different vehicles during different seasons so I'd really like to be able to import/export them as I go. I didn't see it in the brief time I've looked thus far.

You can backup/restore the JBV1 settings and lockouts from a linked Google account, but not from YaV1 to JBV1 as far as I know.
@johnboy00?

JBV1 can't import YaV1's lockout database directly. If the lockouts can be exported to a CSV file, it would be possible to import that, but not without some work on my end.

I just got the Note 9 and YaV1 works fine on it. But i have on occasion had issues manually locking out or taping the overlay to go to the main screen. The overlay does not lock out, if you tap/press it, it brings you to the main screen and you can manually lock out individually.

I just started trying out JBV1 and it has all the same features as YaV1 so i am really liking it. Will soon try some of the other features. Not sure which one ill stick with, but with JBV1 getting improvements weekly its a great alternative!

I'm going to play around w/ YBV1 some. I've not seen a setting for it but does it have the option to long press to manually lock out? Is there even an overlay like YaV1?

I could probably export to CSV. Is there some format I should follow while exporting? If i know what your SW is looking for on import I can attempt to format the CSV to import w/o your assistant.

JBV1 has an overlay, but you can't lock out from there. Tap overlay to bring app to foreground, tap alert you want to lock out, tap Lock Out button.

JBV1 doesn't presently support importing lockout data.

Ok I'm a bit confused you said it would be possible to import w/ work. What work on your end has to be done? Work on the apk itself? Or work on the csv to get it imported?

Yes, I said it would be possible with work on my end. That wasn't a commitment on my part to do the work required (development).

Ok that was a bit confusing as in one post you said "If the lockouts can be exported to a CSV file, it would be possible to import that" then in the next "JBV1 doesn't presently support importing lockout data.". Regardless I'll decompile the apk and take a look. Also if you can export/import via google account what would stop me from just going through that file and creating a file and importing that way? I'm not asking you to do any work for any single user, I'm merely asking if you can advise what format your software would look for in a csv as far as columns go, etc. Or even how to go about importing that csv "with work". I can reverse engineer it but I was hoping for input so I could do the same and perhaps give you something to allow users to import/export lockouts in your program.

Thanks

Dave

I can't suggest a data format to use for an import function that doesn't exist.

If you want to reverse engineer any part of my app, more power to you, but I'm not going to help you with that.

Fair enough. You said it could be done w/ some work so I figured you had some idea. Not sure why you would mention it could be done w/ some work but give no insight on it. Sort of like holding a steak in front of a dog and teasing him. Would have been a better idea just saying it isn't possible rather than it can be done with work but I'm not going to steer you in the right direction. If anyone else is coming from YaV1 and is interested in importing their lockouts send me a PM and I'll see about getting something together to make it happen. I'll also look into an overlay long press option to allow lockout functionality. Just need to find time to decompile and go through it.

For what it's worth, I had 2 years of YaV1 lockout data covering 8 states.
(Or, as much of that as YaV1 saved anyway)
Migrating to JBV1 was immediately satisfying and I deleted YaV1 after 1 day of JBV1 use. I now have a huge lockout database in JBV1 and all I had to do was drive around as I normally do.

Thanks I'll certainly play around with it. I like some of the functionality. Some of it seems to duplicate what I use waze for. My only issue is having multiple cars and trying to keep the lockous current. My summer cars get driven maybe a few times a year and when I do drive them I will import the lockouts from my winter cars at the beginning of the summer. So if I can look into this google account import/export that'd be a nice way to share them after I get the database populated as I would like.

Here's an idea:

Develop your own app and make it work the way you want it to. That's what I did.

If I had time to develop apps for free I'd be broke :) If it wasn't for YaV1 I'd have a different detector, not spend hours developing an app I use once a week when I leave the house. But the effort is appreciated.

Are you using a different phone in each car?

Yes I use android-based head units in them. I had many issues with MCU and Bluetooth integration with YaV1 one but I finally got it working after writing some xposed modules so making it work with this should be another challenge depending how it initiates the bt protocol.

Decompiled and saw it was written for SDK22 or higher :( Did mod and recompile but it crashes on occasion so I'm just going to have to forego this for not.. Thanks for the input however guys. I think I may just wipe data/cache in yav1 and start over and see if it resolves the overlay issue.
