The chinese made plate flippers have an outer frame that keeps its orientation constant. Only the plate and plate backing itself rotate. The outer frame will “pop” out only while it is in the process of rotating. It’s very possible your custom plate frame would prevent the plate from rotating though as the plate would clear the outer frame as it flips over and pivots on the center of the plate horizontally. You’d basically have to have a plate frame that did not overlay your plate at all, and would mount to the outer frame of the plate frame, without overlaying the plate at all. The other thing you could do would be make a custom frame that did not exceed the dimensions of the plate and was thin enough you could rotate the plate with the frame on the plate itself. You’ll have to do some experimenting.

Skip the LP flipper and go for something like the Ghost Plates. Itll be far less obvious for what youll be using it for.

What scenarios do you imagine using a plate flipper for? I have studied a few different ones and could maybe give you some tips depending on what it is you are trying to counter.

I remember seeing a guy about a year ago that FHP busted running the toll road with a plate lowering device. Mega fine and all just so he could save a few bucks using the toll road for free.

You can buy 12x6 electrochromic film quite cheap on ebay. Only thing is you'll need to find I believe a 36V DC power supply that runs off of 12V. It might be even worse and more random like 49 volts or something? Not 100% sure. Different films may be slightly different.

I want to occasionally use a toll lane when traffic backs up it’s literally a .50$ toll but I’m fundamentally opposed to paying it since I paid for the road allready with taxes and registration.

I understand it’s stupid and I can get a big fine I also will be spending more on the plate flipper then I would paying an entire year of tolls I don’t care.

If you use a flipper frequently enough and the can detect a pattern, they will watch for you.

This goes back to what I said in a different post a few months ago.....you guys would be shocked at how many calls come in to the police and fire department from other citizens about speeding, reckless driving, toll evasion etc, illegal fireworks, campfires in back yards, etc. Just about anything you can think of.

We have created a "if I can't do it neither can you " society that LOVES to call 911 to report problems.

The Salinas’ sent the crime caught on camera to CBS4 News.

“It’s not fair. We all have to pay tolls, so why not him,” Sammy Salinas said. “That’s what the reason for the Sunpass is, for everybody that’s using the highways, so we all have to pay tolls on it.”

Thanks for the details. What an idiot. So I guess the officer was sitting at the tollbooth and saw him flip it down when he came through?
