    Per the RDF constitution:
Should links to the offending posts/threads be included as well? On one hand I can see not wanting to give any added attention to poor behavior, but clearly pointing out what a user did to warrant a ban would make it a teaching moment for new users.

In this case, I believe this was the offending thread, but there could be more posts that I missed.

The above is more and more detailed information than has been posted for other rules infractions at the same level. The individual issued the ban was given a link to the unacceptable behavior. I think the Moderators and the Leadership need to evaluate the benefits and disadvantages for posting any individual's behavior in this most public of areas in the forum. I think the membership should take the Moderators at their word that the behavior met the Rules and Judaical requirements without getting into specificity

I would have to say that I agree with @InsipidMonkey 's suggestion that links to the offense be posted here for other users to see if possible. I do believe that the staff here is trustworthy, but I also believe in transparency. Take your statement @DChiJEllis , and make the parallel to the Government: "I think the citizens should take the government at their word..............".

Giving a link to the offending material allows others that may feel that someone was wrongly banned the opportunity to see for themselves what infractions were unacceptable. It also allows others to learn from someone else's mistakes or bad behavior. With the process out in the open, the staff won't be questioned as much.

If it's something that shouldn't be "advertised" for some reason, I would assume it would already be in elevated access or deleted/locked.

Again, I will evaluate the request with the other Moderators. What is being requested is more than has been done in the past and that was deemed acceptable.

It does help if the offending material (if NOT advanced and within the purview of the users access ) is included. Here, apparently, choose life and Tseven had some words, unnecessarily I might add, that escalated to Tseven giving someone the verbal finger. I can see the reason for the ban, particularly if we're going to maintain some semblance of decorum here. If you want to tell someone to F off, then do it BY PM people. NOT in front of the whole world. If you want to disagree, then agree to disagree, BUT don't be disagreeable.

IF we look at the rules, its pretty obvious that Tseven did abrogate several, primarily of which:

two day ban for insults or 1. "flaming", trolling attacks on individuals, and 2. being openly hostile to Moderators.

Yea I am not sure why we can't just look up what happened? Search it out and read it. We could provide links that isn't a big deal either but at the same time anyone who is really concerned can look it up.

Well everyone is free to look at the users last posts, its usually very obvious why one was banned. Just look for it.

Also the new XF is a bit different than the old system where it would quote in the ban the text that forced the infraction.

I like the fact that the guy was so insulting that it drew the ire of 3 Moderators.

We pretty much have zero tolerance for a bad attitude around here and that's actually the root of this.

Sure, you can definitely search it, and in this case it was pretty apparent why he was banned and it the reasons for it were posted in the first post above. There are times however that it isn't as easy to find and if it's no big deal to post a link, why not?

Actually, banned users don't seem to come up with the mention tag, so you have to go into the forum search to see their posts. It makes it a bit more difficult to see what the hubbub was about.

    As a side note

"winging american fu©k sticks" is definitely not the way to communicate, especially on a forum that has a Constitution, let alone in a new members welcome thread.

I usually go over infractions by simply going to the members profile page and looking at there recent posts. In the first few posts its apparent. Super easy, not so easy to do within the infraction system like our old system. Ill see what we can do about coding the infractions so this will show.

But keep in mind this is an infraction, not a banning and they will be back if they choose in a few days, or immediately. Its really just to get a members attention to what they did wrong. Like being written up at work.

Now that is taking the parallels between RDF and the Government way too far! :D

Let's just keep the good parts, like the Constitution. ;)
