Why isn't there a visor clip for the R1/3?

Why doesn't Uniden make a visor clip for the R series? I get the controls are on top and it might be hard to get to them, but I would like to try it out. I'm starting to feel a little obvious with all the crap attached to my WS. It's a really good discreet place to put an RD. In the 90's my RD's were always on the clip. Even if I'm not happy with it, I'd like to have the option. I know you can mod the Radenso clip, but it seems like such a cheap item to make. Uniden should have their own. Anybody else feel this way?

Search the forum. I believe I once saw on a thread that the Radenso visor mount will fit the R3 with a little shaving.

there is - its made by radenso and you want the xp mount

Radenso XP/SP Visor Mount
Yeah, looked into this. Found mixed results on whether or not it works with or without mod. Then when I went looking to get one I quickly found out they are never in stock, although I just clicked on the link you provided and it says they will be back in stock on 8/20. Either way I'm surprised Uniden doesn't offer one, everything mounts on the current WS bracket.

I use the modified ProSe mount when traveling.
Believe Uniden has stated they believe there would not be enough demand to warrant designing and stocking a bracket.

RPSE needs modding. RXP works straight up.

A visor mount may also block the vents on the top of the detector and cause an unwanted build-up of heat. Probably something you want to avoid given the recent reports of heat-related issues with these detectors. It would have the benefit of keeping the detector out of the direct sun when parked, though.

Good point. I forgot to mention that in my origional post, that was another reason I was looking into using the clip. Recently I've started to put a heat shield over it when I get out during the day. Taking it off and putting it back on 6 or 7 times a day just isn't practical. I don't have to worry about the longevity of the RJ11 clip or the bracket release button either.

my dad uses my V1 and he is all about the visor clip, he would never put it on the windshield or mirror. uniden should definitely look into developing one for drivers like him.

Most instructions tell you to file down the leading edge but, I just opened the lock hole slot with a small file.

I was waiting to pull the trigger due to no Visor/ Headliner mount. Got the cure!!!!! I ordered the Radeso mount and Uniden R3 and worked OK. After a few quick measurements the slid in part is 3/4". Went to Lowes Building Supply and purchased a strip of 3/4" thin Alum.. Formed it to match the old Escort Visor/Headliner mount with very little trial and error got the correct shape and One Fine mount for less the $5.00 and could make about 10 more. Really works good. Once you get the shape right do very little filing to make it really smooth. Works better store mount. More good news the old Escort hard wire works fine with new R3 also. Going to rewire with Mute cable at latter date.

No problem, I don't have avail to post pictures , just don't know how. Be glad to send you a text and you can post. It's so easy to make and cheap. Tools needed, hack saw and pliers. It takes a little trial and error the head liner mount I made, but visor mount is easy. Will forward you pics to you cell and be glad to talk you thru it. Just shoot me a text to my cell. 704 467 6000 Know this is not the best way to do it. Now when Uniden copies and puts in the box I want my cut$$$$$$$$$$ It let's you mount very high next to headliner behind dark tint and almost can not be seen if looking from outside the car. With proper bends and measurement the sun shade will still fold but not full fold.
