Yesterday I was in West Chester, OH at Escort’s factory and took a tour of their facility. It was cool getting a behind the scenes peek at some of what goes on back there. Take a look! :)

Wayyyyyyyyy less cringe-worthy than another recent factory tour I've seen. ;)

I bet you could have hung out with Jason all day.....haha.

haha he knows so much! We’d looked at a bunch of other things too. I had to rewatch the clips on the IF and coupling a few times for everything he shared to fully sink in, lol. That little LNA board he was testing, they had lots of those, I’m guessing with slight changes to see what filter design works best? You can also notice a V1 over his left shoulder if you look closely, haha.

I’d talked to a number of different engineers, people who did circuit design and prototyping, mechanical engineers who developed the casing, took a look at the microstrip layouts, people applying the radar absorbing foam for the stealth technology, packaged and wire bonded LNA’s, and so on. It was excellent.

Interesting he was testing an LNA for an updated M3 horn. Think it will make it's way to the Redline EX (360)?

That would be my guess too.

I love seeing actual engineering R&D going on in this video. That along with the recent OG Max/Max2 IVT update and Max360 lockout fix give me hope that Escort is finally listening to their customers again.

I feel all warm and fuzzy.:smug: \
Agreed.
It's amazing how just a little openness with your customers goes such a long way.
My perception of Escort has never been better than it is today after watching that video.

*EDIT* Kudos to Vortex. He has a way of bringing the best out of people.

WOW, so labor-intensive. I dunno, I guess I was expecting to see far more automation. It appears these units are essentially "hand built".

Nice video, @Vortex.

There is a difference between a factory and an office where final assembly of one or two products happens. Do you see any wave soldering machines or SMT machines? If not, it isn't an electronics factory! :)

The actual factory where they make these is much more automated.

Very cool Vortex, I was surprised also at some of the manual processes. Looks like everyone is on their best behaviour and probably well preped for your visit. Look forward to more vids. Who is filming for you?

Are detectors field tested or are they just tested by being “hooked up” to that machine with the line graphs ? Is there even a radar gun in that facility? Do they even need to be field tested?

Huh?:stare:
