I've been working with The Dashcam Store over the last 8 months or so on a recurring problem with my camera constantly going into the "check SD card" mode or resetting itself at random times. I've sent it to them twice and they stated they replaced the unit on the second shipping.
I've tried getting a new SD card (Samsung card recommended on their site) and then after a short period the problem started again. I've reformatted the card multiple times using the BlackVue software with no improvement. I downgraded the firmware from the most recent version to the previous, didn't fix it. Finally I ordered a new BlackVue SD card 64G, that worked for a month and now again, every 5 minutes I start getting the "check SD card" message over and over.

I emailed them concerning this issue but I'm convinced now that there's an issue with the 650 itself, not necessarily mine alone since they supposedly changed it. Does anyone have any insight on similar issues?

I have the 650GW that still works. I do not believe the Samsung card on their site is MLC. The "EVO" is TLC which doesn't last long when using it on dashcam applications. The "EVO+" is MLC but it costs more money (I believe it's called PRO now). Site says the Blackvue cards have 90 day warranty. Maybe try calling them if you don't get a response.

I've been using Lexar 64gb and 128gb cards with great success so far.

I just got off the phone with them. Technician wasn't in but person I spoke with stated its most likely a bad SD card. I can't reformat because it says the SD card is write protected, number one sign the card is bad.
Only had the card for 2 months now so I should be getting a replacement, waiting to talk with tech. I thought buying the more expensive BlackVue cards was suppose to prevent that?

The Blackvue cards are MLC which is good. Maybe you just got a bad one.

Have you tried reformatted the card using the BlackVue's button on the side for reformatting? I do it once a month and had decreased any issues i had in the passed.

Can't do anything with the card, its bad. I spoke with them further and they said once you get the write protection message it's dead in the water. You will start having bad sectors when it's going bad but eventually it gets bad enough to where that message pops up. They have a replacement card heading to me now.

i got the samsung evo+ for cheap and it’s working wonderfully.

are you cooling your equipment down before using it? most electronics dont like working in high temperatures.

Kind of hard to cool down a camera designed to be mounted on the windshield. Withstanding Heat has to be part of the design.

turn the A/C on the windshield? it cools my camera down in 3-5 mins.

no dash cam+sd card on earth has been designed to deal with the intense heat, i havent heard one that has not malfunctioned. car temps can get very excessive, so in the mean time, to help avoid issues....

be nice to your dash cam and sd card and cool it down if you can. Just my 2 cents

The replacement SD card fixed the problem.
