I think you can get a much better outcome lawyering up than trying to fight it yourself. My cousin got his third ticket not to long ago. Lawyer knocked out all 6 points from the case and he only had to pay a fine. And that was against NYSP. Your too deep in hot water with previous tickets to try and do it yourself.

Lawyer is relatively inexpensive too when considering, insurance raises, fines, points etc. Trying to save money by not hiring a lawyer doesn't make sense to me unless your experienced in the law like some of these guys.
nice update, I was wondering what happened there.

Where was this and what attorney did he use? I vaguely remember the details of the court?

I posted the update in the original thread a while back ;) www.rdforum.org: New York State Ticket Advice.

He got the ticket in long island (NYSP made the stop). He hired a lawyer from nassau county and paid $650. And my mistake, he knocked the points down from 10 to 3 and paid a $750 fine. It was his second ticket in 2 years.

Speaking on waze
I never go over 6 wks in NC without waze having me drive through a radar/laser trap unprotected
Ain't that the truth.

Someone always has to be the first to see him and log him into the system.

well the lawyer said im lucky i didn't go to jail and its going to be very tough and difficult to fight this I am most likely losing my license

unsafe high way op is 2 points and no turn signal is 2 points, so total is 15 points. I already have 6 but they were from july 2 years ago. He said the cop knew what he was doing and he wants me to pay fines and lose my driving.

I did get a supporting dep and it says tru speed

im not sure what to do no one even gave me a price yet. My friends dwi, dwai cases seemed less serious than the way he made it sound.

While most expensive lawyer does not always mean the best, you rightly have to consider a key thing...how much is it worth to hold on to the privilege to drive?

Early morning day time. They have been shooting laser very frequently as of the last month and half. They start with the laser after the curves where it becomes straight where the mahopac exit is. Depending on the time and day you will catch them shooting often. I got hit with a tru speed.
WOW FML

i just came from upstate ny, getting on around la grange, taking the taconic south all the way to the bronx river. anyway for the first time ever on this route i got tagged by lidar TWICE just now.

For both hits the ALPs said “Marksman or Ultralyte.”

Anyway, one was hiding under the overpass at Bryant Pond Rd and another was further down on the 3 lane.

The only reason I wasn’t shocked was because of your post! Thanks!!!

That last photo/map is where we used to do some jammer testing. lol

Yeah, you will start to see some laser and radar there. Got a few tickets there back in the day.

Before we even determine your penalty, lets look at what the cop can and can NOT prove. Shouldnt we start there proving the case before sentencing you to death??? Were you in fact going that speed? Was the gun calibrated properly that day and does he have a log?? Was he traned and does he have a certificate? If so, what does log say (in discovery of course). Was there proper speed limit signage and was it according to NHTSA manuals?? Before going to the penalty, how about proving the speed violation first??

Thanks for the advice and replies guys. I’m going to see what that lawyer you guys suggested says.

This morning right where the second picture you posted, there was one car shooting laser and two cars parked on the shoulder and one with a guy pulled over down the road. I also saw them on the sprain.

Before it becomes three lanes they hide under that bridge and if it’s nice out they started shooting laser right after the curves.

I been driving this route everyday same long commute for years and never seen anything like this. They going all out now.

Be safe out there my brothers

I also saw them on the sprain.
I live in lower Westchester and work in White Plains. I take the Sprain quite often both ways. I go to work at 1:00 am and leave work anywhere between 9:00 am and noon. In the morning on my way to work I get random Ka hits from NYSP sitting on the side of the road but that's very rare. Coming home south is a different story. The NYSP sit on the Jackson Ave overpass and shoot the laser down at the cars. I have picked it up on my SmartRadar and the Solo S3. The Smart Radar stays in one car and the S3 goes between different cars. I know they are there sometimes so I take it slow through that area.

Also shortly after Jackson Ave there is a clearing on the right side just below Ridge Hill near the power lines. A NYSP will sit there sometimes with a c/o Ka. Watch these two areas if you travel there often.

@CelticAce Hmm you've seen the laser off the Jackson Ave overpass? Hitting Fronts or Rears? Do they use pursuit vehicles already setup on the sprain?

I've seen non leos shooting a TSS onto the sprain and 87 from the ridge hill area just to check functionality...:shifty:

They hit the front of the cars and have chase cars on the entrance ramp.

Not to throw stones but, you might want to do some updating. The S3 isn’t that sensitive and the Smart Radar is well Discontinued.
If you’re a diehard ecort guy, you can grab a GT-360 cheap with discounts. IMHO

I have often thought about a Redline or Max 360. I know my detectors are old but they both constantly save me from tickets in more than ample time. Plus with owning quite a few cars, the S3 is convenient. But then again, both of my detectors could still get decent money if I sold them. So who knows, maybe in the near future

I have had great luck with waze only for the last year or so and I commute 120 miles each day. Its been on point but today I had my music off and didn't check and got nailed doing 109 in a 55 by laser NYSP. In addition to that he gave me a few other ticket, no turn signal when pulling over, no front plate, tint, unsafe highway operation.

I already have 6 points on my license from august of 2016.

I have had big tickets in the past in Suffolk, Nassau, dutchess counties and usually I go by myself pay a hefty fine and have the ticket reduced to parking.

Do you guys think I should hire a lawyer? Is there anyway I can postpone it for about a year?

Any suggestions on lawyer for Westchester county thx
I've been in your shoes before, I was nailed 130+ in a 55, NY pallisades parkway, yeah I know all who know that road are gonna call me an ass. Well, I got out of the ticket with a good lawyer and agreeing to modify the punishment. Instead of reckless driving, 11 points on the license, and reckless endangerment, I got what I would call probation for driving for 2 years plus community service. If I did not get any traffic citations for 2 years I'd be in the clear and it's be dropped from my record. 2 years past and I'm back to going fast. Also, if you're gonna do those speeds I have some advice I'd like to share with you. Don't pass a cop doing those speeds, they can do a visual estimate if they can't get you because of laser jammers. Or you passed them before they turned on the radar. This is your best case scenario however, because you can get this dropped down significantly if this is your case. However if he was specific with the speed and kept to it, he got you with laser. Now, also you should never speed under bridges, around turns, or over hills, if you have a radar detector it still won't save you from laser or instant on. Also never speed post on ramps, cops love sitting there so they can quickly get you before your radar detector might even go off.

Stay safe, and hit the gas. Best of luck to you.

Just want to say good luck. My 136mph ticket was a wakeup call to slow down or get proper countermeasures.
Maybe after its all done, if it goes well, you can celebrate with some ALPs?

Taconic , Route 9 from Peekskill to Poughkeepsie is a Radar Gauntlet. You have to take note of their favorite hiding spots.
