First question:

Also, having a DB9 cable sticking up from your RVM doesn't seem to be the best design:

This would be ideal for moving rear IO. I wonder how it interfaces with the Decatur?

haha I've got one sitting in my closet that I bought a few years ago, but never got around to installing.

Here's a video (from 3.5 years ago now, whoa) showing the RVM in action.

Watching my older videos makes me cringe, haha.

The display LED's are really BRIGHT, especially at night. @Nine_C1 brought up the idea of adding some window tint over some of the LEDs to help dim things down which I think is a great idea. I've got some LightDims which should work perfectly. Just another project to get around to sometime...

Thats actually a pretty cool idea....I've always been amazed at how much stuff the average police car has that distracts the officer from driving....this is one of the few items that would seem to help keep his eyes up on the road!

When I fly in the front seat of the medical helicopter on the way to pick up a patient, there are lots of times that the pilot will say "you've got the windows, I'm in the cockpit". This means I'm supposed to look for other air traffic, obstacles and ground and terrain clearance while he's programming gps info or playing with other gadgets for the flight planning that take his attention away from flying.

I'd imagine that's one of the great advantages big city cops have like LA and NYPD whery they have 2 officers per car....1 drives and the other operates everything else....or course they aren't generally playing radar cop either!

It goes for $323.99 but Optics Planet is offering a whopper discount of $1.01. I'm placing my order this morning.... ;)
