SAVVY for me is only to get the power to the head unit without having to do any power wiring, easy reversible with no splicing into the loom, connecting into fuse box or going through the firewall. My life over the years seems to be full of pulling out other peoples shonky wiring on my kids cars. Latest head scrambler was wiring on a Jap imported Chevy pick up that had all sorts of crap added in Japan. Tow bar wiring on these is a nightmare, yanks use a different wiring system to us and I ended up needing to make up a custom loom to get it to work. So SAVVY = simple and reversible.

now thinking after 3500k's up and down SH1 between Pukekohe & Taupo that its time to turn off laser, its a pain in the ass picking up oncoming cars with collision avoidance. K band off and Ka Custom sweeps seems to be the best all round set up for me. Picks up highway patrol cars no problem and thats what I am looking for.
Put the SAVVY and concealed wiring in my other car, got a blendmount out of the states for the other car and its now so easy to take the head unit from car to car. have the SAVVY set to mute everything below 50k's.
V1 Driver App does a good job too very happy with that.
So all in all I have a set up that works perfectly for the type of driving I do, which is mainly long haul open road driving.

Yeah Laser is a bit of a pain. When I have it on it's along with auto mute options for Silent Ride (PSL+1) and auto mute after 3 seconds but it still gets annoying. I usually leave it off around town.

I can live with oncoming laser alerts because they're over quickly. But I had to mute rear laser for those times you're being followed by some twat in a Honda or such who relies on tech to do his driving for him.

Great info in this thread. I have a pre-ESP V1. If I switch off everything except for Ka I get a nice quiet detector. Mazdas seem to trigger laser alerts and X and K have always been chatty. Obviously I’m missing out on Redflex cameras and lasers (rare in my experience). Is there a better way to configure this short of getting a new V1 and installing custom sweeps?

Unfortunately pre-ESP you won't be able to do more than what you have already done.

I would suggest flicking your non-esp V1 on Trademe - there are "suckers" out there who will be 500-600 for an old model.

Then get an ESP model + Bluetooth dongle.

Also be vary with laser, as it's use is increasing- especially in Auckland.

You could check what an upgrade will cost. I'm guessing $US289.

I'll be glad to help if I can. PM or post.
Thanks for that. I'm having some connectivity issues with V1Driver at the moment. It keeps saying V1-trying. I've found another cable so will run that for a few days and see if that fixes things.

I've set up a custom sweep for 34.7 and when V1Driver connects it is learning about all of the K band alerts of which there are a lot!

I managed to send @Aucklandradar my settings file for V1 connection. I could send them to you as well if that helps.
