Was coming back from the mountains yesterday driving my usual PSL +18 in the right lane, when I hear a roar coming up on me that is not engine noise. Look in the rear view and four foot tires are about to pass me doing PSL +25! It is a jacked up Ford F-350.

Photo 1) Just passed me and I have to move over to pass slower traffic, what a huge target for a Rabbit!

Photo 2) Still pulling away from me

Photo 3) After the fourth traffic light, I have caught back up and am right behind him.

I think he is not too good to take curves at high speed.

I’d give him plenty of room to rollover which he is prone to do.

We are in the mountains and I could see his tire side walls bending in the corners. The highway is divided and looks like Interstate but it is not, the turns are only slightly banked at a quarter of what they should be for the PSL and some idiot in a log or gravel truck can pull out in front of you around any curve (as a log truck did to me on Friday blocking both lanes because there was traffic he could not merge with coming the other direction). Extreme lifted trucks are not meant for going 100MPH!

I had no way to video him weaving between traffic when I needed to pay attention to my driving since I was over 80mph with flat landers from Florida staying in the left lane always doing 10 mph under the PSL because of all the curves and hills! Like I said, two days in a row that a dash cam would have been nice.

He expected a video because it was originally posted in Real World Videos subforum. I have since moved the thread to Stories from the Front Lines to lower people's expectations of the video.

Maybe one of the Kia or Hyundias but not an Expedition, that would have been messy. I just happened to be in the right hand lane as I didn't have a known Rabbit in front of me until he blew by.

That lift is nearly as bad as mega donks! Offroad ability is not improved much, and may even be compromised due to the much higher COG. Also, the axle is not lifted with the rest of the suspension so it's still a bottleneck in terms of ground clearance! Good luck getting anything in that bed too, lol!

Fixed it. So said the all knowing George Carlin, but isn't that actually true? We have rental property in the North Georgia Mountains so I deal with the "Idiots" on a weekly basis. Once the temperature gets to hot for all the Yankees that moved to Florida to retire, they rent out our properties to get away from the heat. Then they drive 40 to 55 MPH in a 65 PSL staying in the left lane the whole time. All I can think of is it is either age related or fear of turns and mountains. And I don't understand it. If I drive like that in my twilight years, somebody please put me down!

It's not for me to prevent someone from driving faster, as soon as possible, I yield to let him pass. Driving a jacked up vehicle at high speed on mountain roads is asking for a rollover and my concern is to be sure his foolishness doesn't impact me. If he wants to risk his life, I hope he doesn't take anyone with him.

This sh!t always pisses me off. You get an aftermarket exhaust on your car and get a ticket "because it's too loud", yet these people with their jacked up trucks don't. Who is more dangerous on the road, the guy with the loud exhaust or the moron who can rollover and cause an accident on a bend at 35mph...

It depends on the jurisdiction. I know some jurisdictions where I live it’s illegal to have your vehicle jacked up that high on public roads. It’s also the same with being too low to the ground.

Man, I hate these pavement princess trucks, It just looks stupid! One thing to jack it up a few inches but that's just a waste of a good work vehicle.

I know what you mean. Portland and especially the surrounding suburbs have more lifted diesel trucks than any farming community I've ever driven around. Idiots pay $85k for a dually f350 powerstroke to tow a 4000 pound boat 3 times a year and put a 12 inch lift kit, ebay HID kit, and 37" mud tires to drive to their office jobs and pick up groceries, and otherwise not much else.

I saw one of these that had been driven through mud and grass once and was scrupulously kept unwashed in perpetuity.

We have these everywhere down here. The guys that drive them typically vary by region of town but generally they have watermelon arms, fauxhawks and sleeved in tribal tattoos. For you Jersey guys, they're the Texas equivalent of quidos.

If that is not an example of compensating for something then I don't know what is.
