On my morning work commute, there's a two-lane on-ramp that splits into the north and south directions of the freeway, and it's usually pretty empty at my time of arrival, so it's one spot I sometimes like to open up my car and really flex it. The speed limit of the road the ramp comes off of is 55, and the speed limit of the freeway is 70, so I was definitely going a lot faster than that!

As I'm cresting the ramp and beginning to enter the "freeway-side" of the ramp, my detector starts going off, so i start slowing down as quickly and safely as possible (you don't just slam your brakes at that speed lol!). Entering the merge zone which is about 0.3 miles long and is also an exit lane (that i take to get to work, I never really enter the freeway) and I've slowed down to about 70. As I'm taking that exit at the end of the merge zone, there's a state trooper sitting right past the exit on the shoulder of the freeway! If I had kept up my speed, I'd have been done in for sure.

Yep. I turned off the speed overlay for a reason. You’re not destroying evidence if it doesn’t exist in the first place. No reason to self incriminate. :)

Leave your speed up but secure the link. You can post to youTube as an unlisted video or use Vimeo and password secure it. If you want to leave anything off, leave the date and location out or obscure it.

if 1320video is still operating with no member arrest I'm guessing you'll be pretty safe.

Great save! I also have a couple of those on ramps that I use to "clean off my spark plugs" in my Boss 302!

You're not destroying evidence if you don't know you're being investigated for a crime either, I believe. So if you got home and say the police came to your door because they got your plate as you sped by but couldn't catch up (I know it's far fetched just bear with me) they can't say you destroyed evidence just by deleting the video. But it's always better not to create evidence in the first place like you said.

Yeah if I get a dashcam, I'll disable the speed overlay even if it is cool for people to see how fast you were going. I'll just present an honest account of my speed at the time if I share videos here ;)

I censor mine with youtubes little tool... at the end of the day I can't be forced to incriminate myself and I can eat a microSD card if I had to :p

Once you get beginner access you might want to start posting it in the intermediate+ sections, there have been cops harassing people from here before I think after they found their posts. But obviously if you keep info limited they have nothing against you and can't do ****.

I turned off the speed on my BlackVue for the same reason. If one day god forbid something happens, I don’t want people to know what was my speed.

That's one reason my dashcam as well as my radar detectors will never have gps functions! I just have never had a need for it.

Does radar detectors keep logs of your speed?

GPS-enabled ones know your speed but I doubt they log it.

It was the interchange from the Davidson Fwy to 75 south, which merges with the exit to Caniff ave.

You ALP logs speed. If you use BT you can re-call the speed at which you were tag at with just a pull-down of the screen. Hit little hand on side of screen.
