So for the past few weeks I've been running the new Waylens Secure360 dashcam. I'm going to start working on my review of the dashcam today and wanted to share a quick clip with you guys comparing it with the Blackvue DR900S-2CH from a laser save that I had yesterday.

First up, here's the Secure360's front/rear view. I like the 360 degree perspective, plus the fact that you can see me jump in my seat a little when the ALP goes off (haha, the shot was totally unexpected) and you can see me reach to JTK so that's cool. Video quality itself is pretty bad though and the camera is also extremely susceptible to flare given that the sun hits the lens directly from almost every angle in the sky.

Next up is the same encounter with my DR900S-2CH. (As a bonus, you can also see the Secure360 mounted down low on my windshield.) Obviously the detail and quality is much better on the DR900S and the rear cam is aimed out my back window instead of near my RVM pointed inside towards me, but I wanted to share the two clips with you guys and hear your thoughts on what you prefer and why.

LOL! You jumped like someone pinched your rear! (I'd probably do the same and look even more comical in the process)

Video quality is really poor for the Waylens. I definitely prefer the quality of the BlackView. That being said, with all the different Blackview problems I've seen lately with them overheating and/or not recording for some people after updates without warning them, I don't think I'd be interested in one, especially at the price they go for.

That’s funny. Thanks for posting this. That camera is a joke.

The Waylens doesn't look too promising. Cool concept but idk

Yeah cool concept, but it's hard to get past that quality. I know that comparing it to the D900S isn't exactly a fair fight so here's the same clip with the $89 Viofo A119 as well.

If I compared the Waylens directly to the Vivfo by quality only, I'd say the Vivfo is the $500 camera. The quality on the Waylens isn't worth the price tag

I have the Viofo A119 and love it, other than a couple nit picky things. If their (Viofo) dual version would add a 60 fps rear, then bang for your buck is to the moon.

The Waylens, needs a lot of refinement for the money over the Viofo. Great comparison, though.

Wide angle allows you to see more, but 'pushes' closer objects away so license plate reading is a problem.

I have the DR-650S in front which is a big improvement on reading license plates.

Awesome video, myself i like the front facing then the rear shot, 2nd video. I mean i enjoyed seeing you jump a little and reach for the switch, but seeing the whole back instead of a cab shot is more important to me.

Waylens is cool on cars for track days or reviewing cars. It's not so good if I have a full size sub and you don't need to see all 8 passengers and cargo plus not being able to see outside in the rear from the camera point of view. Also would be nice for taxis/Uber/Lyft/etc.

What was the PSL? Looks like you were going about 73mph when you were hit.

Goodness the video quality on the Waylens quite honestly is embarrassing.
Im surprised they would even release it with that type of quality IMHO.
There really isnt any competition in this segment though is there?. I get it and could understand the potential with this, but man, even at "only" 300 dollars. i would still spend the extra for the Blackvue or even much less for 2 Viofo's lol.

Call me an audiophile.... one thing that stood out to me is the audio quality difference. I think generally the sound was more full from the DR900S, but it also picked up a lot of "clipping" that sounded like it was from the lower frequency range, perhaps the "rumble of the road". At those instances it seemed to clip the audio a bit and create popping. The Waylens didn't seem to be as affected by this, but also seemed to not have as good sound coverage for the midrange and lower frequencies.

The Waylens is such a significant compromise in quality I can't see it being used except for very specific niche applications that require a cabin view. Even then there have to be better options.

Thanks for posting to give us an idea of what a 360 lens looks like.

Did that LEO hit you with an RVM shot?

No idea. He may have been hitting people from behind. I didn’t realize that I had Pro Mode disabled by mistake so I didn’t have any indication of if he was hitting me directly or if it was scatter from reflections off a rear shot on cars ahead.
