Dont know if anyone saw this on Youtube, if it was posted earlier please delete.

Adam from Amazon has picked his top 5 detectors in March. Lets just say no one here would share his thoughts :)

Sometimes I watch these things and it makes me question the other official Amazon reviews and recommendations I see and it makes me wonder how to find good quality information on products I know little to nothing about.

Yeah...no testing references, nothing just “my opinion”. I still don’t understand the 9500ix push with zero filtering I see everywhere. Terrible.

My 9500IX is still one of the quietest detectors I've ever owned...But probably because I spent 4 years and give or take a couple thousand lock outs for every K band source within Edmonton city limits lol

Let them recommend crappy detectors...only adds to the "radar detectors don't work" theory while we in the know, know otherwise.

Well I’m not saying the 9500ix is terrible - the article is. However I still don’t understand why I see more advertising for the 10 year old 9500ix than the 360 series

This is why you join forums like this for major purchases. You'll never find better information than from the enthusiasts of a product.

Good point Vortex, most of us make decisions based on reviews and if this is typcial, makes me nervous relying on Amazon reviews now depending on the item...

I have turned away from Amazon almost completely over the past couple years and gone back to making far more purchases on eBay. Especially for car parts which is mostly what I purchase online. Amazon, like so many others, got big, turned into big corporate business and went straight in the crapper with terrible prices and ridiculous shipping cost.

Yup. I try to find forums like this for enthusiast type products. I generally trust Wirecutter, and not much else globaly.

I guess that’s a problem with paid advertising and being completely clueless about a product. My first detector was a Cobra, “the best detector for the price.” At least it was fun shooting it with a .22. Once I knew a little more about radar detectors, my second detector was a Max 360. I thought that buying the most expensive detector from Escort, an established and ‘reputable’ company, meant a high performing device, oh boy. Once I found out about this forum and learnt way more than reading amazon reviews and (paid) articles, I bought myself an R3.

Yep, 100% on board with you here. Plus, if you have patience they offer regular sitewide coupons and extra ebaby bucks back.

There's nothing official about it. Just trying to beg for affiliate clicks.

The 9500 can be silent if unpowered. And this shill wouldn’t know the difference.
