I sent Whistler a message on Facebook today to see when the new CR97 would be available, and they responded that it will be released in early August. When I saw the non-GPS CR95 was released in early June, I figured the CR97 would be released shortly thereafter. Any news on why the release dates for these two detectors kept getting pushed back? I haven’t owned a Whistler since the 1980’s when it was just X and K band. Hopefully the CR95 and CR97 will be a significant improvement over the CR88 and CR93.

I've been waiting for the CR95 to be tested myself, seems like forever! Still haven't heard a peep about it! Even though I have a Redline,V1 and R1,I will always have a soft spot for whistler! I still run a CR85 in my girlfriends car and It works great for her.I want to replace it with the new CR95.

My first radar detector was a Q1000 back in the late 70’s or early 80’s. My dad had a RE-55 xk passive radar detector in the 70’s. I also had a Q2000, Spectrum, and Spectrum 2 “back in the day”. I too have always had a soft spot for Whistler. My primary detector for 23 yrs or so was the V1. It was stolen over a year ago, and I replaced it with a Uniden R3. My wife has an Escort iX, but I am thinking about getting the CR97 after they release it as long as it gets respectable results in testing. I am hoping that these new Whistler models will do well.

They've been talking about the release of the CR95/97 since November of last year. They were both supposed to be released in April and nothing happened. Then in June the 95 was released. I don't know what the hold up is, but I too would like to see some test results. I wanna see what the increase of 6db does for the range and tunnel vision. I'm itching to try something new, but I don't think the 97 wil be it at this rate.

TXCTG will test the CR97 vs others as soon as we get one. It was supposed to be released in Feb-April. We will rank where this detector stands.

Has there been any contact with Whistler about getting one or both? If so, any time table?

Thanks for the memory! It was, indeed, a Whistler Spectrum remote radar detector I had back in h.s. and college. I had forgotten the model.
