If you have an interest as I have in the new Shelby GT500, here is a link to a lot of confirmed and not so confirmed rumours.
* Spy Photos
* Cockpit Photos
* Engine Estimates (supercharged flat plane 5.8 V8 with >700HP?)
* BIG Brembo Brakes
* Lots of stuff to read and see.

Enjoy!

When is Ford gonna drop the Shelby GT500 moniker and go back to this cars roots and call it what it should be?

COBRA.

I realize that they are still capitalizing on putting Carroll's name on the car... but over a decade now since we have had a Cobra Mustang.

Its time to bring the Cobra name back. Shelby GT500 should have been a limited production run.....

I hear you @hammerdown but in my opinion there are 2 distinct vehicles that are synonymous with the Shelby name. The first is the Shelby Mustang and all the reiterations of it such as the GT350, GT500, H-Series, and so on.
The other, that is the Cobra. It is the racer Caroll developed for the SCRA series and others. The one that started out as a British car and then developed into something special.

Interestingly, you have to look really hard to find any reference to Shelby on the 2017, 2018 GT350 other than the iconic Cobra badging. I believe it is Ford's plan to diminish the Shelby name from the line to move forward in Ford's own direction in the future. In fact, I'll be surprised if there is any reference to Shelby at all in the 2019 release other than a badge with a snake.

One more interesting tidbit. When I purchased my 2012 Shelby, I was told by Ford that 2012 was the only year that the car would carry all 3 badges/monikers.
SVT, Cobra, and Shelby.

I can only imagine the dealer markup on this when it hits the showrooms. I would be happy with second best.

I had a 96 cobra! Bought it brand new off the showroom floor! Even though I love my 2013 Boss 302, I still miss my Cobra! It got destroyed back in 2009 when an ignorant no driving bastard hit my wife almost head on. She was very lucky not to have any serious injuries.One day I will find another black on black 96 Cobra and park it right next to the Boss!

Which is why I wait and buy one used! Let some emotional fool pay the silly markup and have the purchase he just made drop $15K in value the second he drives it off the lot. I bought my Saleen used and saved a bundle.

One of my co-workers here paid 15k ADM for his GT350 which he sheepishly admits can now be found in the low 50's all over the classifieds. I've considered picking one up next year but he doesn't consider it a good daily driver.

I hate you. :mad: '13 Boss 302.... :mad:

For me the King of Kings of Mustangs has always been the Boss Mustangs.... especially the 429.

It would be awesome if there is a shred of truth to any of this:

If not, this company will build you a brand new Boss 429... :tviv:

This Company will Sell You a Brand New 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 - Motor Trend

It is hard to beat the original though just tell me whos throat i have to slice to get my hands on this....

Nothing less than 8 cylinders has any ****en business being in a Mustang..... PERIOD.

I don't give a **** how expensive gas is ...we shouldnt do that to Mustangs ....if you need better gas mileage then dont buy a Mustang, drive a fn Prius...

.
At those prices plus not owning the real thing, I can buy a brand new Saleen S302 Black 700 Hp Mustang plus buy a Saleen S1 (remembering I don't buy new) so I will have plenty of money left over to buy all the gas I need.

Im not really a huge fan of Saleens styling.... if all i wanted was mega power id just buy a 5.0 GT and bolt on a twinscrew.

One word: Whipple.... :awesomelon:

Just bolt on another 2.9l of displacement.... :quagmire:

At least Saleen is in NADA / KBB though... go buy a Roush or Steeda and youll find yourself way upside down real fast with no comps for them ... tried buying a Roush once (2005). Learned the hard way.
