Many have asked me what it looks like behind the lense cover. I removed the replaceable lense cover to show you guys. It looks pretty stealth with no lense covers, I might remove all mine.

@Vortex
@The Only Sarge

Lense design could change in final production.

Won't that make the device not work correctly? Without the lens to focus and spread the light, I don't see how it would ever work correctly.

Put your covers back on and send them to me. We need to get some testing done on my motorcycle. Strictly for Marketing and the Business model and such lol

What is the covers purpose other than protecting the internals? Maybe filter incoming laser for less falsing etc? Damn I am such a Newb with sensor tech. I need to read up in that section of our forum.

I wouldn't reccomend running the sensors without covers. Simple contaminats such as dust will wreak havoc on the internals and the performance will likely be significantly reduced. Remember, those bubbles are there for a reason!!

Those bubbles look nasty though. It looks like it grew two nipples.

Sarge mentioned that you could run these horizontally or vertically (90 degrees) if you had a vertically slotted grill (like BMWs).

1. Does it matter (probably so) if the diodes are up or down? Could you run this at 180 or 270 degrees normal placement?

2. Can it be run at any other angles? Is the dispersion of the diodes specific to right angles or is it equal? I asked because at 30 degrees from horizontal, my grill would require a lot less cutting if the heads didn’t have to be horizontal side to side. I can see how they would still have to be level front to back, but even that sounds somewhat not as critical with the TMG heads versus bang on horizontal and level required with other three letter parking sensors.

I should be able to install either way but just off horizontal would be 100% easier.

I know some people swear by (not at) Sugru. Thoughts?

No rush and Thanks.

Sugru works wonders. The purpose of the covers is not only to keep contaminats out, but theres filters in there to eliminate false alarms, likely Faraday shields or something of that magnitude

Hopefully a PCB with a urethane conformal coating to reduce the likelihood of head failure resulting from moisture penetration if/when the weather seal eventually breaks down and fails. Something that I've gathered is often caused by pressure washers and continued exposure to the elements.

An example of a urethane coated/encapsulated circuit board:
