I know back in the day when VG2 was popular there were some radar detector makers that would detect VG2. They would announce VG2 and then shutdown.

Also, the current RDD also emit signal and as seen on Vortex video are detectable as KA band by some detectors. So is there a way to detect RD Detectors or is the bandwidth too close to Radar measurement devices to tell a difference?

Cobra claims that they alert to Spectre Elite. Only issue is that they alert the Spectre Rlite lol. However, lots of RD's will get faint Ka alerts when close to the RDD. I have yet to see one that will actually notify you a Spectre is being used close to it

I think a lot of gals would agree three D's is a little much all at once ;) though I'm sure there are some ... ok Back on track.

It could be on the wish list of the R , though i doubt there will be enough askers for it.

Unless you live in Virginia, Washington DC, or Canada I don't see this as a must have feature.

Ahh great so exactly why I want it.

Besides I never said must, I am just asking for feasibility and well if there is a way to implement it then hell yeah. Like TSR filters, not everyone needs them but here they are.

That is something I have thought about off and on for at least the past decade. It could be feasible if it could detect an RDD the same distance as RD’s pick up police radar.

The emissions from the LO in the RDD are going to be orders of magnitude weaker than a police radar antenna. If you were able to detect it, I would expect ranges similar to those at which the Spectre Elite can detect RDs. If manufacturers did add RDDD to RDs, the RDD manufacturers could just go the way of the M3 and minimize LO leakage using an LNA and/or radar absorbing horn design.

Just sayin. I don’t have an RDD so I don’t know what the LO frequency is or how strong or weak it is. It’s probably wishful thinking on my part.

Yes, but unless it is designed to be completely stealth, you can still detect it. I believe some RD manufacturer had a technology in their RDs that would detect RDDs and then shut down the LO when one was detected, once upon a time. This might have been before stealth RDs were even developed.

Which is why if RD manufacturers ever do it they need to do it on the down low, not advertising it and just have a option in the settings to turn it on for the enthusiasts... ;)

That’s not quite right. More like a radar detector activator. I wonder if a dashboard full of these could overwhelm a LEO’s radar gun?

I'd love to get RDD alerts on my R1/R3. I'm always interested to know which PC are running the Spectre Elite. It would be handy.

Until a search of the cab as part of a quick roadside compliance check reveals the device in a commercial vehicle.

Hilarity ensues for the driver, I'm sure.
