On the way home from work and caught Arkansas State Police running I/O around a curve and down a slight hill. First sniff was about 1.3 miles. Please excuse the Honda CRV K band I'm following.

Nice save and way to stay vigilant while you were getting falses from the CRV!

I was putting the hammer down to get ahead of it when I got the first Ka blip. It took a lot of patience to stay put until I was out of reach of his front antenna!

Do you have those days where your head is up your ass? The very next day, at the same time, the same LEO is sitting in the same spot running the same tactics. Like a dumb ass I damn near got owned by I/O. Guess it just wasn't my time yet.

That is one sweet alert in the video! Any advance alerts the next day, nothing at all I'm guessing.

Absolutely nothing! I spent the next ten minutes trying to pull the seat out of my ass. It was a solid 9/10 on the sphincter scale.

I need to work on this. Sheriff and local PD (Benton, AR) run low power K band. Currently I run K wide 100%, K filter on, TSF off. Ka is segmented 2/5/6/8 and X band on 50%. My confirmed K band hits have been around 24.150 so I'm going to try running K narrow for a bit and see what happens. I did get a 24.197 from Arkansas Highway Police so I'm a bit timid to go for it.

even with k narrow i thought you would have caught that 24.197... in my opinion i think you can run k at 60% and still be ok. I dont have k band in kansas so its hard for me to give great info, but talking to guys like @hiddencam etc they have given me good feed back..

Actually, that's low-risk speeding right there IMO; you used traffic ahead of you to catch the shot you needed in time to slow down before you're the target. If there had been no traffic ahead and you were speeding into that trap, THAT would have been head-up-arse!

Thanks, I've definitely been in touch with @hiddencam. He was one of the first ones to help me out with identifying local radar guns before I purchased my R1. I'll play a little over the next month or two and see what I come up with. The terrain on my regular commute isn't conducive to "moon sniffs" but I do think I could drop back (maybe as much to 60%) and still be safe.

Nice one! We rarely see them that obvious here, seems they have a masters degree in "stealth operations" haha.

Yeah 60% is only a 4.5dB reduction from full sensitivity, and does help reduce chattiness. But obviously facing low-powered K units, I'd probably use Highway mode when I was hauling.

Glad you dropped in. So running @ 100% my detection range for Saline County Sheriff on Sardis road has been 1 mile or less. Since it's twisty and hilly I generally stay within +10 of PSL. How far down would you go? Once on I-530 I also try to stay within 10 of the PSL because of the videos above. I've only encountered Highway Police running traffic patrol on I-30 but have seen them with customers on 530.

They do this bull crap on ohio's highway too! The antenna is special and the radar unit is low power! Only the r3 or r1 detects it!

Fortunately most of the highways here are Ka with very little I/O. The K band I encounter are all Decatur products (Genesis/Genesis Handheld Detector/Scout). Fortunately, for the GHD and Scout, I know where they like to hide. There is not enough support to get an accurate pin on Waze but I always mark them regardless.
