Took a road trip today only to find in the first hour I wanted to turn off the V1. I also wanted to scream a lot. I was starting to think there was something wrong with the detector. After about five or six miles I had gotten as many in your face full powered hits with steady ramp ups. I'm like what the hell is going on, no police units, wide open road, no over passes where is this radar coming from? Thank Goodness for Arrows or I probably wouldn't have picked up on it so quickly. With a R3's sensitivity that would have been real nightmare. It would have never shut up for 40-50 miles of driving, plus you'd never have known where it was coming from FYI PA. State Police must be stationary when using radar, no rolling radar in PA. Then I caught on to what they had done. Every mile or close to it, the PA SP had attached a K band radar unit to a metal pole just at the top of the guide rail along the shoulder. This of course was connected to a battery box. This gimik ran from the I-79/I-76 split north to the 104 mile marker. Then I got on I-80 east from I-79 and they had pulled the same stunt out to around the 52 mile marker heading east. The radar unit although a little tough to see is on that pole to the left of the mile marker about half way. up. If you click on the image then go to open in new window and click on the image for full size you can get a good view of the unit.
