Walking down to the beach today I spotted a car in the lot with one of those crappy Chinese detectors on the dash I bought for a joke off eBay and ended up getting for free. (if you couldn't believe people actually buy them and use them, they do lol)

This guy is running it in a banned area with Spectre's around (Confiscation + $350 fine and probably demerits if caught) Surprised he hasn't been picked off yet....Felt I should leave a little bit of information for the fellow.

I did the same thing to a guy who was running ZR3's on an R8. I let him know about ALP's and that the ZR3's will not protect him against the guns used here. I hope he took my advice and got an upgrade!!

What a Canadian thing to do
It was a modded STi, you'd figure someone around here would know and tell the guy. I figure if someone is running at least an Escort, they have juuuust a little bit of a clue...But the Chinese one. F-Me. I feel bad for the people being ripped off by the sellers.

Tried that as well with an exotic car owner and inferior sensors but it was in one ear and out the other with him. Ah well, only so much you can do!

Nice thing to do. He probably just wadded it up and threw it on the ground. His loss.
He will find out the hard way. At least you tried which is more than most people will do.
Should have mentioned the Forum. ;)

I did the same thing on Sunday night when I spotted a guy w/ Ohio plates in Fairfax parking lot having a detector right on the windshield in plain view. I left him a note telling him to place it on a seat or mount it high since they are illegal in VA/DC area (he was probably visiting for the long weekend).

BTW it was a Cheapo Cobra.

Yeah I thought of that after I left, should have directed him towards Vortex's videos of testing/RDF. Maybe if I see the car again I'll leave another secondary follow up note :D
