I received the RC M a few months ago and given that it hasn't been short sleeve weather in a long time, I finally decided to give in and install it on a rainy day!

I was very impressed with the RC M's packaging and unboxing of the product. Everything was put together neatly organized really well. The build quality of everything is excellent. Although not really needed since I have multiple USB drives, I like how a USB drive is included with the product for updates. The antenna looks very similar to the HD+ that I've been using on the ALP system but the connections are not the same so I had to replace and re-run the antenna and cables. I won't be marrying the ALP with the RC M at this time.

Once the RC M was installed, I went to the Radenso site to update the firmware. Very impressed with the firmware update process since you can download all the files in a zip file, unzip folder and place the files into a USB drive, plug it into the RC M usb port, turn on the RC M and let the magic happen. I love how you can see the progress of the firmware update. The display is awesome but now the problem is finding a good place to mount the display!

After firmware updated, I went on to play around with the various settings. Oh man, there are so many things you can change in the settings menu. I wish there was a webpage to change the settings like how the ALP does. Once I had everything set up to my liking, I fired up my Stalker ATR for a short test. I'm surprised to see that 34.3 Ka band was turned on and 34.7 Ka band was turned off by default!

I went on a short drive and didn't have any Ka band falses which is a huge sigh of relief. I have been getting a few Ka band falses on the HD+ and you know how we all react to Ka band. I'm also happy to see radar band frequencies although they are not as accurate, it's better than not knowing. My Stalker ATR registered an exact 34.700 while my Redline would indicate ~34.73X if memory serves me correctly.

Since there's some reports of MCRD in the NYC area, I have it turned on so I can see if it alerts to a few known speed camera locations I drive by frequently. The short drive yesterday I didn't go through the known speed camera locations but did receive a handful of MRCD falses. Was going through a tunnel next to a Subaru with BSM and MRCD was alerting on full alert.

Other than that, it was very quiet on X and K band. The ALP doesn't really have BSM filters for the HD+ and the RC M is a great upgrade for radar and BSM filtering. I will try to get more drives in and provide more updates on the RC M as time goes on but initial impressions are very good!

TLDR: RC M a good remote radar system, check and configure settings before speeding.

Thanks for the review, I'm looking to do an RC M / ALP setup. For some reason the images are not displaying. What kind of car did you install it in?

May have been a privacy issue with the album. I think it should work now. I didn't take any pictures of the car install since I haven't found a permanent place for the display yet. I have it installed in a 2012 BMW X5.

Your right the unit is solid and comes in a nice box...only thing that annoyed me while installing it was that the cord for the display is kinda short so it limited me on placement. But its a good performer.

Since the attachment to the Display is a standard, mini USB connection, you can probably use an extension cord.

Went down to DC this past weekend and had a few Ka hits. Mostly 34.7 and 35.5 and only saw the cop 2-3 times. Other times I couldn't spot the cop.

There were too many Gatso falses so I turned that off.

No X band alerts or falses.

A few K band falses but that's to be expected. Locked out one K band from automatic door and found the lockout interface to be a bit confusing. Briefly glanced over the manual on how to do lockouts and I think there was a few too many buttons to press and/or long press. I'll need to look over the manual again on lockouts.

Had a few MRCD alerts, only one of them seem legit. The others didn't have the ramp up/down and I didn't see any cameras. The MRCD detection I have shared here: www.rdforum.org: Radar - RC M vs MRCD

There was an electronic sign earlier saying "SPEED ENFORCEMENT AHEAD" They weren't kidding. Poor MB. Guess you can't have both money and brains? This stretch begs for speeding.

I'm seeing Chrysler cars with BSM falsing as MRCT a lot. When I'm next to them, I'll get 2-3 bars but when I pass them it jumps up to 8-9 and then when I put about 10 car lengths on them, the alert goes away.

You know what makes a GREAT RD?

That after a month or so after the install, you don't really think anything of it. It doesn't do anything other than alert me to real threats, and stays quiet.

The RCM passed my test, and quite frankly I don't even think much of it anymore, because it just does it's job, and it stays quiet otherwise. Unlike my ex-wife........................................

    ROFLMAO :D

Something is up with mine since the 4/4 (or was it 4/10?) update. Work is killing me, but I just need to spend some time with it and verify my settings, possibly factory reset it or reflash it.

But generally, it is quieter, at least from the front antenna...

I'm seeing a handful of 34.3 falses. I wish Radenso would do band segmentation instead of sweeping the whole Ka band when you do wide.
