After having someone road rage at me today pretty badly (something about me not turning left into a cyclist which was crossing the intersection along with me me not tailgating the car in front of me after that:rolleyes:) I've resolved that I'm not going to wait any longer to order my dash cams.

I'll be ordering dual A119S' directly from Viofo along with CPL filters, and I'll be getting 2 Transcend High Endurance 64GB SD cards and 2 hardwire kits which I'm planning to tap into my existing Add-a-circuit from my V1 install.

Will I need GPS in order to utilize parking mode when I eventually get a battery pack? Are the units which I would be getting automatically V2? Finally do you guys recommend I purchase anything else to assist with the install or make the whole dash cam experience better?

While the A119/A119S are great cameras for the money with excellent video quality, parking mode is not their strong suit. While they technically have one, it's not intuitive to use and there are much better options if parking mode is important to you. GPS isn't required for parking mode, I believe it uses either the G-sensor or motion sensor to trigger recording.
Read more about it here: dashcamtalk.com: Viofo Parking Mode new beta feature

I have an A119v2 and an A119Sv2. I like the resolution of the A119 (1440p @ 30fps), but the A119S has better night performance. There is also a new A119 Pro which I haven't used yet but may be worth looking into.

Lastly, they can be had for much cheaper than buying from Viofo directly. I didn't pay more than $65 for either of mine with GPS.

I have a PRO on order. Will be delivered today. Be glad to check and let you know. From what I have read, I believe @InsipidMonkey is correct. From what I have read, the motion detection is so sensitive, it rarely stops recording.

In the meantime, here is a video demo:

brvid.net: A119/S DashCam Parking Mode using 5volt Power Bank

Not sure I like the idea of using a power bank as a permanant solution.

If you have not seen this, here is a comparison of the 119 models.

Last week I was planning on getting the A119 Pro, but because the A119s is supposed to have better night capabilities and when I came across the exact video that @jnez367 shared I thought I was convinced that the A119S was actually easier to read the plates after watching the video at 0.25x playback speed and randomly pausing to compare the different videos.

Where do you suggest to shop for one of these? I saw cameras which were cheaper but I didn't know who to trust and so I just felt better about ordering it from the source.

FWIW: I went through third-party seller on Amazon. If you can wait a few days, I will run mine and report back. If someone has a trusted source, I would also appreciate hearing about it. Will probably look to pick up another soon.

I also thought the 119s looked better in many circumstances. Hoping for a firmware update that will make it better in the future.

I've bought from Amazon and eBay sellers with good feedback, and haven't had any problems.

I'm also running Samsung Evo Select 128GB cards in them. Seem to be good for 10+ hours of dashcam use, and are <$40.

I ended up buying through amazon from a seller named Viofo which was a bit cheaper than their actual website, however I'm not sure if they are actually affiliated or not.

The dash cams should be here Sunday. @jnez367 I decided I didn't want to wait any longer; before I was waiting to see how the new Blackview turned out to be be but now that I don't really want the Blackview I figure I can order the cameras and install them and if I'm not happy order something else and then return the A119S. I just don't want to not be protected any longer. I'd still like to hear about your experience though and I'll report back with mine :).

Sounds good. Let us know how you make out. Testing parking mode at the moment. Camera goes into standby and motion detection does not appear too sensitive. Will have to review video. Hope motion detection is sensitive enough.

Blackboxmycar is where I got mine. They're awesome. They have an Amazon and eBay store and but it was cheaper on their site.

Still not sure how this works. Camera is spending most of its time in continuous record, but it does go to standby. Recorded this at 1 fps. Way too jumpy. Had to slow the video down to make it watchable. Maybe 5 fps would be better.

The laser beam/star effect on the street/car lights is something I need to figure out. Maybe just dirty windshield?

Is this with a CPL filter installed? I'm not sure it would even help enough or if you'd get much better for the lens flare with something else, but I'm not a camera expert.

No filter. Thinking I may have to spring for new wipers on my wife's car. Hope that is it. Have the filter on order.

The A119S is definitely really good (bad?) for showing any streaks or snuffed you have on the inside or outside of a windshield!

CPL filter is much better for day-time drive!
What about for night time driving? Does the CPL ever make night time video too dark? I do have my rear window tinted, although not super dark.

Bummer. I was super stoked to get my cameras today only to see this when I checked the tracking. Not saying I would have preferred if they sent the damaged product since I'd rather they say something than deliver damaged goods to me.

Does this mean I'm going to be refunded and can buy again, or that they are going to send a replacement shipment? I've never had this happen before with Amazon.

Edit: Amazon FAQ says that I'll have to repurchase an item that was undeliverable. Oh well.

Suggest that remove its CPL off for night driving if you have your window tinted already!

Well the dash cams I accidently ordered to replaced my "damaged in shipping" units were not the bundles with the CPL filter so I'll have to live without it for a few days. Going to be installing at least the front camera tonight :).
