The road I turn right onto at the beginning just after I pass the LEO is a well-known speed trap haven, the PSL swaps from 45>35>45>35 over about three miles and it's easy to miss the signs.

Where I first saw him is just outside a small police/fire substation, my theory on this encounter is that this deputy was just warming up his cruiser and fork-testing his radar right before this, and left the unit on. He sees me, remembers to turn his radar off, then tries to pace me for a bit. No dice. Then he speeds past me to go pace and pull over the red Dodge pickup right after the first PSL change.

Would probably have still been an eye save even without the radar alert, but if he had it off and I had been five seconds earlier coming up the road, who knows...

You should have pulled him over and asked him why he was speeding and if he knows it causes accidents and thousands of traffic fatalities every year.

    What is a fork-test?

Radar tuning produces a mph reading on the radar to verify the unit is tuned
Everytime the fork is used it should produce the forks speed reading ie 35mph

Interesting, this is literally a tuning fork rated for a certain speed?

That's cool. I wasn't sure if this was some sort of electrical device which they simply call a "tuning fork", previously I was only familiar with the musical applications.
