R3 laser alert went off 0.4 miles from the parked SUV if the GPS on my Blackvue is correct.

Waze audio alert was a bit late to say the least.

Guess the folks in the SUV were looking for super speeders.

There were instructions on how to adjust distances if you have a android phone and an older waze version. iPhone users are S.O.L.
Can’t change anything.

Waze in general has become worthless crap. They really dumbed it down and most of the cop reports now are fake or stupid things like rolling vehicles.

yea, gotta keep an eye on the waze screen, the audio alerts are often too late... depends on how far they are shooting and how close to the marked location they actually are.... around me it's generally helpful, but with how flat and open it is they can hit you before the alert if they are shooting sharp. at least you got off without a ticket, might be time to start a little savings for some "parking sensors" :)

I had a visual waze Leo Alert Lazer save just this week. Being a my usuasual dumbass I was being the rabbit for two others, we were cruising at 145km on the 407 when I decided to zoom out on the map, I happen to notice a leo pinned at the 2nd overpass from my location, I slowed to 120km, the first dude behind me stayed with me, the 3rd guy pull into the passing lane and blew by us both. As we were passing the leo. he was pulling out can chasing down the poor 3rd dude with a disco show. This was in the area where @angrypenguin had mention the dragon was in use.

I would say that the 0.5 mile 'max' is a request from the LEO community. I definitely use Overview to check my route but even that only provides situational awareness vs concrete info.

I'll see if I can find the site with older Waze versions. I'm running an older version on a tablet that I got just to run Waze. It does have longer warnings..

There was an adjustment you could make in the config file to change range on older version.

The guy on the inside lane picked up the LEO long before you :) He saw him and shaved his speed before you were hit.

I also seriously hope no one was following you the way your dropped the anchor! That could have been bad.

Let's get EVERYONE on RDF to email them asking for longer alert distances...maybe after being inundated with thousands of emails they will finally listen?

Eh, adjustable distance will still be useless if the police officer is smart enough to start moving as soon as he'll see himself marked on the app (any of them can also use Waze, especially since it doesn't cost them anything) ;-) And I'll bet most of them are already being taught to do that at local police departments.

Texas state dps has definitely changed their predominant tactics due to waze.

Agreed
In NC on the interstate for speed enforcement they sit longer than a half hour
Will leave and come back an hour later
But usually its less than 20mins long enough to write 2 tickets and leave

On the city interstates during the day in 5mins youll have report and a like
On limited access away from cities you can have a report sit 15mins wo a like

Ours drive up and down access roads next to the highway in the opposite direction. Lots more moving around.

You can zoom out on the waze map while your driving and it will stick. So you can see things reported up ahead farther than half a mile. Also on my google pixel, I disabled battery optimization for waze this way I can reduce any delays waze has when someone reports something. Not sure what other phones have this battery optimization feature.

Waze is very helpful to me, I have yet to find random posts by knuckle heads who don't know how to use it properly. That's probably a local thing. On major interstates, waze is on point from what I have found.
