I started using Waze when it first came out on Google Apple and my cell phone will overheat after 30min or so of usage. But they seems to have fixed the issue even though it still run hot (due to continues GPS and date usage). I have never used it more than 30min or so and I am planning to take trip from Texas to Maine and want to un Waze continuously.

Anyone have experience using Waze for an extended period of time?

I’ve ran it for all day drives while running Pandora (for car Bluetooth) and Glympse in the background with no problems.

In the past with other vehicles I had problems with overheating when I use to have it mounted too far forward under the windshield with direct sun on it. If you move it toward the driver to a spot with less direct sun and a little AC blowing on it it’s all good.

I've been using Waze for going on 5 years now with almost 2M points and over 160k driven miles. I've used it on multiple 800+ trips non-stop and I've never had an issue with overheating. And that is on four different Android phones.

I also have run Waze for around 5 years. I use it for 200-500 miles at a time many days of the week. It made my older Samsung Galaxy S4 run a little warm (and permanently damaged my Amoled screen), but my newer phone seems fine. (It also DOESN'T have an amoled screen. :) )

It's been my experience that the warmth is due to the phone working hard to remain connected to GPS. It's more noticeable in some areas than others.

I found my old S4 had a little trouble getting hot with Waze or other harder apps, but on my HTC and the new Z2 play I can't say I've ever had an issue with it getting even slightly warm. What phone are you running it on?

I can run Waze with the iPhone 7 plus around 4 hours before it really takes a hit on my battery. The USB port in my car doesn't supply enough juice to keep up. Does anyone know if a 12V adapter with USB data pass-through?

I've used Waze for 4-6 hour drives while charging and playing music countless times on two different phones. No problems.

I've run it hours and hours and hours but my placement is down low in the cockpit. Android is left which I use for YaV1, iPhone 8 is right for Waze, so they don't stay in the sun much. On road trips more than two hours they are cabled to power and I still haven't had a problem.
