YAV1 app all of sudden won't open

    Was making some minor changes to YAV1 on 2 of my phones and backed up the changes I had made on both phones ...closed app and tried opening YAV1 app up and it won't open...uninstalled and reinstalled on one phone...still app keeps closing??

    I would delete it. Clear all memory/cache....restart/reboot...and download a clean copy. You've got a conflicted or corrupted file that needs flushed. I assume your not having memory space issues?

    tried all those steps... was using the beta version... went back to regular version. still won't open

    only other thing is the files on the phone. .. backup.. settings... sweeps.. logs that are still stored on phone after uninstall...of course don't wanna delete them if I don't have to.

    Make sure Android auto restore is turned off when installing any app on Android. Or it may restore the problem you are trying to clear.

    It’s an option usually near the auto backup.

    Did you go into your apps manager....tap on YAV1 and clear cache?

    yeah did that...only thing I can think to do now is clear data... there's 4 folders in YaV1...backup...lockouts...settings...logs...one of those folders must be corrupted...either settings or backup. don't understand why it won't open on either phone. really don't wanna lose everything. . all I did last night was change manual lockout color to purple and backed up settings and lockouts on both phones

    Well I am of the mind it is a corrupted file that keeps reinstalling itself.....

    yeah I agree Sarge.. .don't know how to avoid starting all over.. since its affected both phones. Unless one of the developers has any ideas. thanks Sarge for help you have provided!

    It probably (maybe) a corrupted file in Android itself. This would require factory resetting the phone.
    Can you download and install any other app?

    Sarge running 8.0 oreo. .. downloaded CC Cleaner and cleaned everything..deleted YaV1. rebooted and reinstalled links you sent to see if that could be issue....still won't open....I was hoping the developers who took over from Franky..
    might have a fix...only thing i can think of is to delete the YaV1 folders and start from scratch

    When you uninstall app. .. it of course leaves the folders (backups....settings...lockouts...logged alerts) behind.

    maybe if I try one folder at a time delete. its gotta be corrupted in either the backup or settings folder.

    Save any backup files you have by either using a native file manager or dedicated app. I typically save mine on Google drive. I use the native file manager for Android which is found under storage (subcategory files) in settings. Can't remember if older versions have this feature.

    Then I'd clear the cache, uninstall the app, delete the app folder and its subfolders using whichever file manager, reinstall YaV1, and move your backed up files to the downloads folder. That should do the trick and has worked for me on this very same issue.

    Then, once YaV1 is working restore your settings, sweeps, and lockout database using the files located in the downloads folder. Once this is complete do a backup for each which then places the backup files in the proper subfolders. I don't think this last part is necessary but it ensures YaV1 is placing files where it normally does in case you forgot. Finally, delete your original backups that are in the downloads folder.

    I've run into your issue multiple times after I've excessively tinkered with YaV1. I can't guarantee you'll be able to use every backup. This issue has popped up for me when I've renamed files and whatnot. At the very least you should be able keep your sweeps file and lockout database. I think the issue is related to the YaV1 settings file, but that's just a guess.
