Would you feel even somewhat safe exceeding the PSL with only a radar detector? I have been hit with Laser roughly 10 times this last 3-4 months. I think if I didn’t have my ALP’s I would feel very uncomfortable hitting the gas. Now don’t get me wrong I don’t feel invincible haveing both but I do feel comfortable. I don’t speed all the time like some do but when I do I do feel confident that I am protected because I have radar/ Laser CM’s and waze.

I get hit with LIDAR pretty often, and would not drive nearly as fast as I do if I did not have the ALPs. With both detector and ALPs, I don't have a problem going 95.

Until end of last year I only had a radar detector and Waze and a year before that only a Rd and my eyes. Only had two speeding tickets in 15 years of driving. The first one (2010) is what got me to buy a RD, the next one was a laser ticket in 2013 which would have been a Waze save I think had i been using Waze (or my head for that matter). Honestly where I drove in CT with Waze and an RD I did fine as there was a lot of traffic and a lot of Waze users, with a Rd and some good situational awareness I was generally ok for daily driving... That said now that I am in a different state I have had two laser hits in a year, and while I was aware of the trap both times the second one had i been coming by a couple minutes later I might have gotten killed without ALP. It takes a lot of the stress out of driving knowing ALP will save me from the sneaky laser stuff. The R1 has great range down here so even I/O I usually get a few blips in advance... Waze is also a big help. With all three driving is easy

It’s funny but my last laser hit I saw the cop on waze and came up to him and he wasn’t running radar and was facing toward the other side of the freeway. I passed him and after a few hundred feet I hit the gas and reached 85mph and then he hit me with laser from behind. Sneaky bugger. I just took my foot off the gas and killed the jammers. I suppose it was stupid for me tomgun it but I thought I was past the threat. Glad I had my ALP’s.

I don't own ALPS. I only run radar and waze and have been for 4 years or so. Before that I was completely blind and never ran anything for the remaining 6 years. I was taught the old skool way of speeding like slowing down at crests or turns and always having a rabbit. I've been ticket free *knock on wood* for ten years. I felt that's what has kept me safe all these years. Waze and radar has only added to my arsenal, I haven't depended on them. One day I will get ALPS but to not have ALPS and still speed ticket free is not impossible. It all depends on your discipline.

I see laser often in and near cities. I see laser very rarely out on the open road. My V1 picks up laser reasonably well, but at the expense of sometimes an annoying amount of falsing. Once I get on the open road I often disable laser detection. I still have Waze and I constantly look for LEO cars pulled over with a door open. Jammers are illegal here.

    So far so good.

If i lived in a bigger city like Wichita or kansas city i would invest in Lidar Jammers, but so far knock on wood, they just dont use it around here.

This ^ ^ ^ goes back to the ardinal rule of never driving without protection of some sort or even any sort. You'll never be 100% protected because there's many ways to skin a cat and even if he doesnt get a "reading" , he can still write a careless or reckless as its discretionary. I never get in a car that I am driving without an RD or parking sensors, like a DD for example. It increases YOUR odds when you're protected. Lessens HIS!!

i can see this in your area, lots of traffic, cops can pin point a vehicle easier.

I got comfortable on my daily commute exceeding PSL by 30 mph at certain stretches (where I could see, no bridges, no hills, etc.). I was able to drive ticket free like this for over a year and started to get cocky. I was naive enough to think I knew all the hiding spots. I was only running a RD and only encountered laser a few times. I thought I knew where all the laser traps were and I was proven wrong. Got napped doing +31 with laser during the night (pretty dumb).

Learned my lesson, got ALPs and never looking back.

The thing with laser in my area is they don't use it often, but then all of a sudden someone wakes these guys up and they decide to come out and play...

Sometimes I get hit with laser twice in a month and sometimes I go a year or even more without. I need ALPs but it's not a high priority purchase currently.

I'm surprised such an active, well-known forum member doesn't have them in TX. Moving there alone would probably place ALPs at the top of my purchase priority list of crap I need.

If I lived in Houston, I probably would. Dallas lidar activity on the highways seems way less than Houston.

I thought they didnt use Lidar on the long stretches I would hit a few times a year, as I would always pick up CO Ka. Once I was set, To my surprise I started picking up TruSpeed hits from these same spots while still spewing Ka! One dark night my interior lit up with a TruSpeed Alert. There was no Ka warning that time!!! no regrets... Will never drive that stretch the same way without sensors...
