Is this some kind of electronic warfare?

Since about the time I got my redline segmented,i feel like I'm the cat! Luckily I don't have laser to deal with yet.But like @Choose Life says,I ALWAYS use my eyes first and never depend on just my detector.Just the other day,I got a weak alert on 35.5 on my R1,at the time I was running 75 in a 55,around a curve and about a mile later, there they all were with their cute little end of the month road block to check tags! One of the troopers noticed my R1,which i had turned off long before I got there. He looked me dead in the eye and said "Boy ,you know that thing is a waste of money don't you?" And I looked him dead in his eye and said Yes sir but it was given to me as a gift and I hardly ever even turn it on! I also had forgot to put my seatbelt on,and hooked it as I got the first weak alert,so guess who looked like a little mouse!

Where i live the use of rd was legal before 1990 , that is the year the unfair/unequal war against motorists began.

my response to that would be dont call me boy. of course i would never say it but the real waste of money is the taxpayers wage spent on that tropper's sorry salary and government benefits. we have a local former sheriff around here. he just shot a guy in the head 4 times because he knew he was going to rat him out. apparently this former sheriff has been caught up in sexually deviant behavior for decades. recently many more people have come out forward against him. dirty rotten cops are everywhere. a girl that works at the gas station got busted for DWIA (marijuana charges of course). they have been threatening and blackmailing her trying to force her to work with the wyoming co informants. apparently they seem to think she has information about heroin users/dealers. highly ignorant.

that cop would say something like that BECAUSE these devices (especially an R1/R3) actually do work and makes it slightly harder for them to make their quota, otherwise he would have not said anything. i wonder if he even knows what a R1/R3 is and how far away we can pick him off.LOL. like an old who song, i cant see for miles (well almost) lol.

glad it saved you a ticket. even a stupid seatbelt fine is often times in excess of $100. what right do they have with that one anyways. wearing a seatbelt should be a choice and if your willing to take the risk, who's buisness is it anyways. its kind of like smoking in your own privacy. it should be a personal choice.

I found the original question interesting. So, yeah, they extract money from us in the form of taxes, and some of that goes to the police (and other agencies), who use some of that money developing ways to extract more money from us through different means.

This thread reminds me of the excellent YouTube video by lawyer, James Duane about never talking to the police. I recently bought three copies of his book and have been loaning them to family and friends. Book: http://tinyurl.com/y9t7zq55

Don't forget "1984". The use of unending war as an excuse to subjugate the population through fear.

I was just walking by a road with a PSL of 25 and someone going like 30 came up to speed sign and floored it up to 45 to see how high it would go or something.

I can just imagine the meeting where they decided to put it up and thought it would slow people down, but in reality it just causes people to get their "high score," kids to see how fast they can run in the street, kids to see how fast they can bike in the street, people to throw baseballs at it to see how fast they can pitch, etc.

All our speed signs now start flashing "slow down" at 4 over, for that very reason.

You see, my father had the same mentality as your sister. When my parents visited me in ABQ NM and we drove to Sedona, AZ my father was initially upset that "his son has a radar detector so he can speed", I told my dad that having a radar detector is not a ticket to speed; it's more along the lines of enhanced situational awareness device. That holds especially true when passing through the native American tribal areas where any amount over speed limit can result in a fine (the LEO's are poor there and are looking for any excuse to ticket you). So about 5 hours into the trip my father realized how great the Radar detector was and the fact that I was driving max +10mph (with 75mph speed limit going 85mph is basically as much as my corolla could pull (mountainous areas too)).

At the return trip my father asked me where and how he could acquire one (that was the famous LRD-950 for $150) so I just bought it for him (from BRD) and gave it to him as an early xmass gift. Then when they visited me again I flashed it to DFR-7 and he loves it. They live in Florida and he loves the red light camera alert, it's funny that each time he calls me while driving I can hear the radar detector going off and warning him about LEO's and red light cameras, and many times he tells me: "Son you saved my bacon one more time!"

So yeah Radar Detector is not a right to speed, it's basically and informed consent alert system that makes you aware of any speed measuring devices or stop light cameras along your way.

I had a total eyeball save on my way home from work yesterday.First I got that feeling in my gut, then he came around a curve straight at me, he was no more than .25 ahead. I was doing 70 in a 55 when I first saw him.Got it back to about 60 and was wondering what are you waiting for? Right then,he shot me with 35.5 IO! He was so close I could see his face!

In terms of electronic warfare (RD vs Radars), I find it interesting how Radar companies attempt to defeat RDs.

For ex: the FCC only allowed transmission of Ka Band between 33-36 Ghz and certain companies chose to utilize the farther end of the spectrum (35.5) since its harder to detect than 33.8.
Also, POP was developed to shot too fast to be detectable by RDs.

Then uniden developed the R series that can detect Ka band all the way from China

I blew by one once well above 100, thought it would be cool to catch it on video and grab a pic to share. I went by so fast it never displayed anything. :p

Some of those signs only pick up motorcycles a few feet away. I assume I went by so fast that the delay of the display showed my speed after I had passed, if it showed anything at all.
