@westwind77 @Brainstorm69 I guess three times a charm, my new 360 works as advertised! Just got over an hour of drive time with it and it was like NIGHT AND DAY compared to the faulty one I got last weekend. Could see the difference immediately. Alerting when it supposed to, arrows transitioning quickly (even better than my first one from last year) I had 3 strong 35.5 encounters and the range was excellent (have vid I will upload tomorrow) and extremely quiet to BSM. I am actually pleasantly surprised with this one.

I basically opened it up and installed it right in the Best Buy parking lot. Checked version (1.3) and setup all settings on the detector itself. Turned off X, TSR, GPS Filter, Autolearn, Cruise Alert, anything GPS related. I don't care for lockouts and don't use them on my R3....Never connected to EL, and just crossed my fingers! Don't think I'll update to 1.4 after my experience last weekend. Just gonna let it ride the way it is for now its working so well.

Hopefully no issues down the road but will keep this thread posted as I go (good or bad)!

    Quick update... @Brainstorm69 @westwind77

Although my new 3rd M360 (SN:85 v1.3) is performing very well, alerting when supposed to, great 35.5 range, great arrows, and quiet to pretty much all BSM, I have had 4 lockups over the weekend. Two with EL and two without. All four I could tell the units was locked up. The last one with EL on was stuck on a K rear signal and EL bluetooth disconnected showing the BT icon on the detector. Tried to power cycle, and I got the Powering Down lock-up! I had to unplug the the RJ-11 to restart.

This is definitely a software issue, I never had it on SN:79 v1.5. So I think its all related to 1.3/1.4 and 1.6/1.7. I also don't think this has anything to do with EL or Autolearn, GPS, TrueLock, or anything like that. Just bad coding somewhere...

Knowing my unit locks up I have been trying to download v.1.4 from DT but seems to be down. I tried last night and this morning and it won't download even if I try Advanced tab - Update All. Other users on Escorts forum have reported same thing.

So now I am at a crossroad, I have 45 days with Best Buy to see if Escort squashes this bug, or do I just get rid of it now and go back to V1 and move on. One thing I've learned from messing with these 360's is that I really like having the arrows. And I know the V1, or at least my last one from last year performed well on 35.5 which is what I see 90% of the time here.

Thanks for the update. Sorry to hear it's not doing any better on the lockups. :(

If I were you, I'd strongly consider returning the 360 and getting the V1 if you don't mind using an app. The likelihood of Escort sorting this out in the short term seems highly unlikely. I'm not even sure if they can/will get it sorted in the long term.

Maybe I missed somewhere in all of the M360 lockup drama, but what happened to your SN 79 M360?

@Brainstorm69 Yeah it just stinks to finally get a 360 that performs great detecting radar but be plagued with this lock up issue. I loved my last V1, I just set it up with VC and forget it, don't care to use the apps since I don't care for lockouts or low speed muting. What I love about he V1 is the perfect ramp, arrows, and customizable muting logic. The BSM I would say is also on par with my R3 for the most part.

@Blong2506 I got the SN:79 when it first came out but returned it due to laggy arrows, very sensitive rear antenna, and inconsistent 35.5.

I am happy with the M360 on 1.2, although the BSM's can drive you crazy. It is nice to have the R3 to deal with areas of high BSM's. I agree with Brainstorm69, I highly doubt they will get this issue fixed within the 45 day window, I have a feeling it will take much longer. Look how long they took release the 1st 'fix' which did not fully address the isssue, and they knew it.

You would think threads like this would hurt the sales of the 360/C coming up in searches for people looking to purchase their new flagship. I figured they would put 100% of their resources to addressing this, but from the looks of it they are not even close to that.

Were your strong m360 encounters better than 39% of an R3? www.rdforum.org: TXCTG - Ka 35.5 Testing (Uniden, Radenso, Escort, Valentine) Mt Calm 3-3-2018

I’m sorry...I have to ask... I haven’t seen “strong” 35.5 performance by the m360 reported on here before :)

Sorry to hear about the lockups. I’d return to best buy within the window...the first max360 firmware update was over a year in the making.

Well it is just a shame.....the 360 series has so much potential to be plagued by petty/firmware issues like this.

I have over 20K miles on my R and know exactly what its capable of.... Here in NH the terrain is no joke and I can tell you on windy back roads here there is no substitute for an R. That said, the 35.5 encounters I have had this past week or so with the 360 were not bad at all and gave plenty of advance warning. Very similar to the 3.8952 V1 I had last year. It really has been a solid performer outside of the lock-up issues. If I have time tomorrow I will see what I have on my dash cam memory card. I had a great 35.5 detection today that shouldn't be overwritten yet.

I know on Mt.Calm it was avg around .650mi, but here is what it got in practice on a similar straightaway downtown loaded with traffic. I'll see if I still have the vid on my mem card but here is the map for ref....pretty good to me.

The thing you have to keep in mind about these tests is that they are setup to tease apart sensitivity differences between detectors, and do not reflect real-world situations:

Yes, I am taking westwind's quote out of context, however, I question whether Escort will be able to fix the lockout issue as it does not seem to be a priority for them. They had plenty of time and money to develop the CT360, a solution in search of a problem. What about existing customers who are having problems with their $600.00 detectors? While the industries are wholly unrelated, I work for a global professional services firm and our standing mantra is "Clients first, prospective clients second". Escort is practicing "Sales first, service second". IMO that is not sustainable.

Not sure if you read my post or not... I had clearly stated 35.5, most of these tests you provided are for K and 34.7. And if you actually go back and re-read the (35.5) tests including the ones here you provided, you'll see the 360 doesn't do that bad....except for maybe a little inconsistency which was known about in the earlier versions but have not experienced it in the recent two I have owned.

Keep in mind, I am not saying you are wrong, or the 360 is excellent on Ka band in general, I know that it isn't. I buy these units for fun, to test, to mess around with and share my thoughts. My opinions are based on many years of experience with RD's as well lots of drive time with the units I have or have had. I will say that M360 performs very well on 35.5 unless its forward facing, FF and anything off axis for that matter has proven to be terrible. K is adequate, BSM is indeed excellent, most likely due to the reduced K sensitivity.

I hear what your saying about absolute raw performance, and that maybe easier to test on straight flat roads to see which one gets the moon sniff..., but here in NH, on the curvy wooded back roads, all of these detectors alert within seconds of each other against 35.5. Its just a matter of how many more seconds you want.

I understand what you’re saying. I used to enjoy the m360 until a moon sniff saved my ass in similar terrain that you mentioned (west virginia in the mountains). Now, I prefer to have the “strong range” a.k.a. Moon sniff capability.

Good discussion for others to read and gain understanding.

Completely agree. As for the M360, it was supposed to be an "around town" RD for me but due to the lockup issues its most likely going back to Best Buy this week in favor of a new V1. Its nice to have arrows around town because locals like to hide in all sorts of places and I may only do about 5-10 over the limit so don't need extreme range. Just need something quiet to BSM with arrows and the V1 can handle it no prob. As you know this is the luxury of having more than one detector at your disposal :)

If you want a “new V1”, I’m selling a complete package in the classifieds. It’s the latest version in excellent condition with tons of extras for less than the price of a new one with tax and shipping.

    https://www.rdforum.org/index.php?threads/73570

I hear you on the range need. For 90% of my driving, I’d prefer arrows over range. For the other 10% I really need the range. Now I have a dual head NetRadar DSP which is the best of both worlds...near R3 range front, similar range rear and arrows.

Yes I saw your listing, that's a nice "package" you have there haha! But I prefer to buy new.. The version you have is older than the one I bought last summer from VR.. I just like the smell of fresh plastics and motherboards.

Much of that was resolved with the next firmware update for SN 79. I've got two of them and the laggy arrows is pretty much resolved. 35.5 is good, BUT I too have had some lockups on the units.

You asked me what I did with my SN:79 in post #4 of this thread...
