Personally, unless I could do it REAL quick-like (like before my car was even at a complete stop) I wouldn't go rooting around in the console or trying to hide something if the cop has any chance of seeing you try. This is just a bad move from every angle.

Unless you are in VA or wherever, it is legal.

If you want to make an effort to hide it anyway, that is a problem that needs to be solved before the popo has the lights on.

yeah you're right, really not enough time to eject RD from bracket unplug the power jack and peel off the suction cups all in a fast un-seen swift move lol better just leave it up there not playing any games

It is a bad idea these days to be doing anything with your hands when you are being pulled over other than holding them up or sticking them out the window. I always do it. It usually gets the encounter started off on the right foot anyway.

I'll usually set my wallet and insurance on the dash as well. Although the last time I got stopped my insurance card fell between the seat and the center console when I pulled it out of my visor. So the cop is standing there while I'm digging around between my seats. Fortunately I'm a middle aged white guy in dockers and a polo so he didn't seem concerned.

    Pull over to safe spot.
Turn car off and put keys on dash in plain sight.
    Roll down window.
    Put both hands on wheel.
Greet officer with Good Morning/Whatever Officer
I am licensed and am carrying a weapon.
Go from there.....it is not a conviction so no reason to bargain with him/her....just be friendly and nice.

I could have fun making stuff up. I'm easily amused......

Officer: "What's that under your rear view mirror?"
Driver: "Hmm... It appears to be some sort of electronic device."

I drive a really short car so I doubt that somebody standing outside could see my R1 above the RVM unless they were really looking for it. I've been pulled over once with it up there and got a warning.
