Thinking of upgrading the wireless charger on my car from the standard one to the FAST one. Currently with Waze on, there's a slow battery drain due to the amount of power my phone is consuming.

If I switch to a fast wireless charger can it charge fast enough that the phone doesn't slowly just die (battery wise?)

Should be fine with a fast charger.

On second thought, I've noticed that if I don't use a high quality car charger and cable in general that Waze drains. Wifey used to use one of those cheap chargers with a dollar store cable and her phone was always draining.

As for the fast charger, I use one now and haven't had any issues at all.

I found that with my older M8 unless I had at least a 2 amp output charger I would lose power slowly. Anything above that was fine. the uniden R series usb jack on the power cord worked like a charm...

So just a follow up to this. Just for fun I decided to use my s9 on the same dock for my s7 which only supports slow wireless charging. On the s9 its fine. Waze doesn't kill it. How weird is that??

Waze would kill my S7 no matter how I was charging it, my S9+ doesn't seem to have that problem ever

Yep, with Waze running.
FWIW, I use a charger cable and charger I got from Costco for that phone. It's a full kit with 2 cables, wall charger, and car charger.

Over the years i have noticed that some chargers/cables just don't provide the juice to charge while a few GPS apps are running. Simple solution is a rapid charger, though more capable charger would work too.

If you buy a fast wireless charger make sure you also upgrade your car charger. The cheap/old ones are usually 5 Watts/ 1 Amps and it’s not going to be able to supply the current that the fast wireless chargers need.
