So this morning on my way to work, driving with the flow of traffic, redline quiet as a mouse, I see what we all dread the flashing blue lights coming up fast, pull to the right lane and he moves over with me and that's when I knew I got popped. Never saw him, he was sitting on the on-ramp that goes on to the highway (not interstate) and got tagged at 82 in a 65, LASER. Time to upgrade my countermeasures and add laser as this is the first time I've seen them using it in the area, was NCSHP and mandatory court appearance. Lawyer time!

Yeah. I think LIDAR is still rare but growing in popularity, and its one of those things that when your targeted, its lethal without Jammers.

After you hire the lawyer and this gets settled your left with 3 options.

1. Don't speed (can't believe I just wrote that)
2. Roll the dice and end up in this situation again
3. get Jammers ( I prefer ALP)

Good luck my friend and thanks for sharing!!!!

Damn that’s a bummer. 13 years is a good run. Stick with +9 over until you get your laser defense. Seems to work well for me.

It happens to the best of us, while laser isn't a constant threat it is out there (and in some area's seems to becoming a more common threat) and very lethal when used from a hidden location. Was he marked on Waze? Since you said on ramp that would suggest a rear laser hit as well. Roughly where was this in NC and does the ticket give any info about which Lidar gun was used? either way ALP is a great way to go, I recently started my setup and man its so nice not having to worry any more about laser (at least from the front, need to add rear sensors still). It's been a long time since I saw laser but since having it installed I have already come across two laser traps, Waze saved me on one, the other I saw setting up and he also left his radar on so the R1 picked it up enough in advance to allow me to slow if I hadn't seen him pull in there... either way ALP did pick up hits and scatter very well and I felt comfortable that if i hadn't had any warning that I would have been fine.

Damn I guess I only have two good years left in me then *knock on wood*. I'm 11 years strong and don't have ALPS. I need it yes but have not yet made the jump mostly because around my area they just do lazy C/O 34.7. Sucks to get hit but I wouldn't take it harshly, you had a good run. If your this disciplined to have a good run without ALPS, with ALPS you'll have a longer clean run. That's how I look at it.

Cleveland county, I work in Charlotte so commute every morning and when in Charlotte traffic is usually too heavy to "speed". Wasn't running Waze at the time sadly, most of the time in that stretch there are always false reports on Waze and I drive it every day so I got numb. Defiantly was a rear shot, and I was just looking into the ALPS the other day and seeing how much the cost would be. Every time I've seen NCSHP sit on this stretch of road it's always been I/O Ka. Trooper was cool about it though and said he had no choice in issuing the ticket and to seek out about getting it reduced. Ticket didn't have any info on laser gun used sadly.

I got popped by nchp on 74 near Robertson a couple years ago. Headed to Charlotte from my mountain home in pigeon forge in a Sunday when I got the very faint Ka 35.5 and then laid into the brakes. The second hit was when I saw a white unmarked dodge coming over the bridge at me. I was at 78 when I saw him. He did a flip and nailed me at 92. Told me that if I had a NC license, I wouldn't have one when this ticket hit the state computer! He knocked it down to 14 over I think it was. It was cheap to pay and those points don't count in my state so I paid up. I checked my dash cams after I hit my hotel and confirmed that when the first little tickle of Ka came up, before I saw him at all, I was running 92.4. When I saw him crest the bridge, I was at 78. He had my ass already.
Get yourself some ALP and/or gamble, the payables come out either way!

Yup, that's one county over from me and know it all too well. HWY 74 runs through there as well and it's wide open with no stop lights etc. and easy to get up in speed on that stretch. NCSHP can be vicious. 3 more MPH and it would have probably been reckless driving on top of the speeding ticket.

EDIT: Just watched playback from my car DVR, I was correct in that he was sitting on the on-ramp to the highway shooting laser at the rear.

Get your ALPs and you’ll be praying they prefer Lidar and put those 33.8/35.5 guns down
All praise to the mighty ALP! Georgia loves the rear shots from overpass and on ramps.

Big small short and tall
They shoot em all

I watch my 6 in NC more than any other state
Seen rear lidar shot several times this year
If its not too much info the road it happened on would be great knowledge
Another rear lidar trap is I77N exit 35

I never really saw any rear shots until the past year around here. Had one hit going to charlotte. I've seen them setup for rear shots several times lately. ALPs will pay for themselves in short time.

HWY 74 at the Stony Point Rd. exit. They use to love sitting under the bridges in that stretch running I/O 35.5

Wait 13 years without sensors and only 1 ticket for lidar, thats great luck my friend. To even think you can push it with a r/d alone is a scary thought these days...

Mandatory court appearance for 17 over? North Carolina has to be the second strictest state on speeding after Virginia.

If its your 1st time
Make numerous calls to traffic attorneys
Dont pay over $100 and one will practically guarantee a drop to improper equipment
If it happens again in next 3 yrs it will be difficult to get that reduction

Had the same ticket from a rear rolling IO shot

That sucks! I feel your pain! The only speeding ticket I've gotten in the last 20 years[KNOCK ON WOOD!] was just like that. I was shot in the back in Dunn-Benson NC a couple of years ago. 86 in a 65 zone! I was also running with traffic. Redline never made a peep. I got a lawyer from the area to make it go away.No court. It was laser.
