The best detector by far against the Reflex is the Redline International. Check this detection. (sorry somehow it got inverted) VLC media player sorts it by using tools, effects and filters, video effect and then select transform and rotate 180 degrees

Nice that's a pretty good detection. I also have a pro A and have got good usable detections. I'd love to test other detectors for comparison sake such as the 9500ixi etc..

Hi lads we have those redflex vans here in Ireland for the last 7 years and they are surly the most difficult radar system to detect. I have 3 detectors in my car an Beltronics stir plus m edition an Escort X50 black international and a redline international. It is hard to believe but my X50 international is the most sensitive of them all beating the two M3 based detectors. I am currently considering an uniden R3 just out of curiosity but after watching the results here it doesn't look like any detector can deal with redflex.

Uniden R7 is the best option against redflex at the moment I believe. My r3 doesn’t even pick the vans up. Going to get a R7 later this year hopefully

Uniden R3 US (NZ DB) - Vs. Redflex Speed Camera New Zealand
Assuming you had the R3 GPS database turned off just to compare the K band detection!?

I would like to see a comparison with your R7. This is a good test location as you don't get too much traffic which can give reflections which might give a false impression of the actual alert capability.

@dudeinnz did some comparative testing against pole mount redflex between the Redline Ex and the R3. Based upon that, I'd say the results are pretty similar. I had an original redline, but don't think the detection was actually much different from the R3 against pole mount redflex. At the end of the day, you need to run duplicate tests with no other traffic. Without being able to see by eye where the radar is actually reflecting it is very easy to forget, and assume one detects better than another. Its a shame we can't use the original mark 1 eye ball to see the actual radar, I bet it would get better range than the R7!

I tend to agree, detectors are not great against Redflex. It only takes a slow reaction, maybe desensitised by falses, and you could be toast. GPS and good vision/awareness still seem best.

If there is a GPS mark for the camera then yes this is really helpful.. However, on drives from Auckland to Tauranga for example I have had saved using K1 on Redline Pro A where the cheeky van was around a bend where eyes would not have done the job.

I don't normally cruise much over the PSL but it was reassuring to know that I was def safe..

I believe the R7 NZ with K1 on will be the most sensitive against Redflex and will provide usable range.

I think we're all pretty much in general agreement. I too had saves previously on a redline against the mobile redflex.

I am currently wondering whether the Uniden DFR8 (or better still the DFR9) build on a different platform (similar to the DFR7) might be better against mobile redflex than the R3 (essentially invisible). Depends what the low scanning range is on the DFR series is. Some indicated it didn't go below 24.00 but nobody seems to be able to verify this. The K band scanning range is not listed in the DFR9 user manual. Could anyone give a likely opinion on the DFR9 / DFR7 low frequency? If it's okay, I think the DFR9 could be a better option in NZ than the R3, and at a lower cost. Someone has the DFR8 on trademe, but nobody is currently offering the DFR9. So either its going to be great, or really bad!?

When I say 'great' I mean okay! (So far haven't seen anything coming close to the above R7 against redflex!).

Apparently the DFR range (not NZ versions) have a K band specification of 24.150 GHZ +/- 100Mhz (so 24.050 - 24.250).... I'd love to know how religiously they stick to the specification, and if they would go as low as 24.000

Genevo one is the best detector I've seen handle redflex based on videos (detected an nk7 which is quite current tech) as well as the Radenso xp on normal redflex based off of a radar busters video. Best I've found yet.
If you want me to dig the videos up, yell out if you'd like a look. I'd be interested in what you guys think.
