Yeah, was the original speed cited anywhere on the ticket? Definitely bullshitting if not.
5 over and he says "its the best I can do." Im calling it that he was eyeballing him........Hoping that he'll just pay up. The large majority of states requires that the unit and device type be placed on the charging document (aka ticket).
Ahh, I see that's a no.
Yeah **** 'em, file for discovery on the equipment used.
As do nearly all RDs. Its very odd that there's nothing at all on the ticket??
In NY they would reduce this to a equipment violation, fine with no points or anything on your record. Waste of time honestly.
Best to postpone the ticket at least twice, so the LEO forgets what happened. By then it will be a year or longer and it will be dropped for sure.
Was this a Twin Cities area suburban PD, or some podunk town PD like Nashwauk? If it's a podunk town PD, it is unlikely they were using lidar IMHO. If he was parked at a 90 degree angle from the road he could have been using handheld radar, if he was using any radar at all.
My R1 will alert to the Dragon Eye Compact, but not at point blank range. The photodiode amplifier must be saturating at close range and not recognizing the pulse pattern.
Definitely fight it. If the judge sees a lot of tickets for +5 it may pi$$ him off and he will start dismissing tickets. My BIL went to court to fight a ticket and a cop did something to pi$$ off the judge and he dismissed every traffic ticket left on the docket that morning.
Thanks for all the replies guys.
-the ticket says nothing on method used, it has a section called "remarks" that was left blank.
-Cop was sitting 90 degree in parallel to the road, so it was either: handheld radar (unlikely since my R3 didn't made a beep), laser (have seen them using prolaser iii), or just eyeballin' it.
-It was Saint Paul PD, to the best of my knowledge, they don't have Radar mounted on their units.
-measured distance to the point where he first would've gotten line of sight: 1400ft.
i do not know, i'll read up and consult, got a friend that has experience on this, i'll need to confirm before going to court.
same here in Oklahoma. 10 and under doesnt go on record. Court clerk doesnt even send them into DPS.
sounds like you got laser tagged....the game of laser tag goes both ways... time to buy something to shoot laser back at the thing tagging you...
thats how I read it. Cop reduced it down to +5 psl
OP- does +5 psl go on record? If not, he gave you a big break.
The last two times wife and I got hit with laser (before my ALP friend started riding with us) both times leo reduced down to +10 psl, which as I said, in OK doesnt even get reported to DPS at all.
