This evening I met with a guy here locally to test out his Max Ci. He had 2 heads installed down low on a Toyota Sequoia.

I recommended that he add the other two heads up higher as well. However, we did some test runs first with just the two down low against my PL3 and we were both surprised by the results.

It was JTG. Shooting the headlights, grill, front plate, etc. We did multiple passes as usual. I even tried some trick shots and shooting him slightly off-axis as he started rounding the bend into the straightaway into the test course, and nothing.

I wasn't expecting those results and am still pretty surprised by it. Nevertheless, he's gonna put the other two heads up higher to help against tougher guns and cresting hills and whatnot. Either way, that was a good performance by the MaxCi360's ShifterMax heads.

Nice, I pray they keep using the PL3/4 in my state.

It does perform decently for a two headed setup against the dragons, so no surprises there. In my test with GothamNYC, his 2 head setup managed to be JTG against the TSS and Stalker XLR. I was also unable to get a PT on CM with the DET guns although it was pretty reliable PT on the headlights.

Shouldn't one of those heads be flipped over so the bubbles are either both "out" or both "in"?

One word says it all : PL3.......

That old legacy gun is easy to jam, so results not surprising. Heck, my 20year old Lidatek LE10 can easily take out the PL3. If all he's seeing in WA is PL3 , then he's good. Anything more than that and he's going to pwnage. hope he doesn't get overconfident.

@Vortex is that all you guys see there??

Technically you're correct. With the old LIs, it was always bubbles out. Those are not LSP or LI, so it doesn't make much difference.

I'm curious why so low and so close together, I get that he's covering the plate, but still against a lot of guns he would have punch through at the headlights, why not higher and farther apart, he'd still get plenty of plate coverage.... clearly didn't get good placement guidance.

On Sequoias I have 'seen' triple alp setups in the top slot of the lower grill... It is a b!tch as the upper grill goes up with the hood... Did you get a top view picture to see how far they stuck out?

just a guess, how far do you think it was from the heads to the headlights?

I think that rule of thumb is leftover from the LI days when the heads were physically wider and you wanted the bubbles (receivers) closer to the headlights unless they were super wide apart. With narrower heads like these, that's less important. At this point I think it's more of an aesthetic choice. I like them being bubbles out because I think it looks better. :)

That's the main gun, yeah. Some TSS as well and a smattering of guns like the ProLite in some cities, but far and away mostly PL3. They're going to be road tripping cross country where he'll be facing other guns too so he went ahead and installed the other two heads at the top of the upper grill after I left. Either way, it was surprisingly good performance with just the two down low. It did way better than when I tested two on a Model S. Maybe due to different firmware as well? I dunno.

If you're talking about ALP heads, with that level of sensitivity, it doesn't matter if the bubbles are in or out. But I'd say these heads ideally should be moved farther apart.

    Great results against that PL3!

IMO, based off of what I saw with my truck and the dual ShifterMax I’d recommend another sensor if he wants that “bulletproof” setup. Even with my proper sensor placement, my front end was just to large for a dual.

**Hey Escort if you’re reading this, allow customers to purchase additional sensors for thier setups**

Doesn't matter.... Escort is go good you could put the heads behind the grill and it would be JTG all guns all versions. :)

Lol. Nah it’s just a joke because Bossdad and everyone says I’m Escort Fan boy.

The Shifter Max is very good but not that good. Lol. Nothing is that good.
