    Good morning!

    I recently found this forum while searching for issues/fixes for my Uniden R3. Happy to be here and have owned several units in my driving lifetime.

    Welcome.The first thing to suspect is the power source. Verify that you are getting power at the end of your cord.
    Use a muli meter to test it and try a different cord if you can. The forum members will help you get it ironed out.

    Thanks. I know there is power at the plug, but I do suspect the cord may be the issue. The orange light turns on or off when I press power on the RD unit itself, but it will not power on.

    That does sound like a power cord issue... do you have another cord you can test with? since you have had other RD's you can use an escort power cord or a V1 powercord in place of an another uniden cord to see if the detector will power up, the mute button and such wont work on the cord, but you can at least see if the issue is with the cord you have or the RD. If it powers right up then it's the cord, if a known working cord doesn't solve the issue, then the RD may have a defect from the factory (or may have been abused enough in shipping to damage something internally) and needs to be swapped out for another one..

    Thanks! I do have an Escort cord from my Bel Pro 500. I'll try that and see if I can get the R3 to power up at least with it.

    I purchased on 2/9 and received on 2/14, so I've had it in use for less than a month and have been running it on my Blendmount with no issues until yesterday. I took it down and unplugged it as my vehicle was in valet parking all weekend. Got it back yesterday afternoon, went to plug everything up and no dice. Luckily I still had my Pro 500, so I ran it on the way home.

    So, testing with my Escort cord I have the same issue. It will not power on.

    Ok, so its not the cord. Now try your detector in another vehicle to prove that your car wiring/socket/battery are all good.
    If it still doesn't power on I believe you will have to return it for repair.

    This may be a silly question but you don't have the screen turned off and the initial start up test also disabled, do you?

    I do have the start up test disabled, yes but it's worked just fine until that day. I ultimately returned it for a new one since I was within the 30 day return policy of Electronics Express. Should get the new replacement on Thursday.
