With the exception of the V1 and the Max360, a detector shouldn't need view out the rear for rear radar detection. They're using a directional antenna pointed toward the front, so any rear signals being picked up are actually being reflected off objects in front of you. Rear laser detections would be sacrificed, but they're unlikely to ever help anyway.

Mine is mid ws with best view out back/front but totally non stealth and i get tailgated from people looking to use me as a shield bc they see the detector

Testing has been done though i dont remember the search criteria

    Ill tell you one thing
The detector is so much better at 100% K filter Tsf on instead of tsf off 70%

If you arent dealing with very short K signals tsf is great

My serial number is 110 so maybe one of the earlier ones.

I was having a problem with my power cord, but it is a hardwired cord (#26 AWG) that I built myself. I route it up in the headliner and down the A pillar and then under the dash. Once it was plugged in it would stay in, but the problem was you couldn't tell if it was plugged in or not, because it didn't have that reassuring "click" when it is latched in place. I took a closer look and the plastic tab used to release it is getting worn out and very close to failure. I have been using this cord for about 2 years with my Redline and Magnum so it is time to replace the RJ-11 plug anyway. Good thing I took a closer look at it. The Uniden cord latches and clicks just fine but the RJ-11 plug has not been used nearly as much. Ironically, the almost worn out RJ-11 latches just fine with my Magnum. Just for the hell of it I tried a RJ11 I bought from Home Depot and it latched and I had a hard time getting it out.

Edit: It turns out that the plastic tab on the old RJ-11 was just about broken. A new RJ-11 plug fixed the problem and it clicks like it supposed. Good thing I caught that! I carry spare power cords with me though just in case of a malfunction.

I tolerate the R1's less-than-perfect mounting hardware because it has a$$ kicking range on all three Ka frequencies along with very good K band filtering of BSM pollution. It turns out I had to file off even more of the stalk on the single cup mount to make it sit level. But I like the grip it has and it is easier to level it regardless of where it sits on the windshield. The two suction cup mount is ok though. Because the R1 is so much lighter than the Magnum/Redline it doesn't put much stress on the suction cups. Leave the Magnum with the tenacious Escort Sticky Cup on the windshield on a hot summer day (not recommended) and it will even pull that down!

I have a permanent mount for it, but wanted to try the single cup mount first. No vibration yet, but I have not been using it for very long.

Edit: I tried TSF on and the R1 was so damn quiet I thought it was broken lol. How short of a K band pulse can the R1 detect with TSF on? I normally run K band 50% with K narrow and K filter on. It's good but an Acura will punch through every once in awhile, and a very few GMs. I am surprised at how well it filters out the GM polluters!

I route my wire the same way and actually just replaced mine this morning because the tab broke off my old one. Went and bought a 12 footer at Radio Shack, cut off one end and spliced in an inline fuse. Good to go for another couple years!!

It cuts a full second with tsf on
Accoding to stats it should detect anything over 1.1 seconds
But we know from testing thats not always the case with anything
    It could be 1.3, 1.5

The big decider for me is whether i see K IO
I see a ton of Ka IO but my K is CO
I turn tsf off in GA

I wish here in Missouri that we did not have K band but that is not the case. So i am glad that you do not have to deal with K band.

It really depends. Some models will cause falses to all detectors and a lot won't. The T&C is a tough one to predict. My R3 falses to the same vehicles as the V1, but it just picks them out much further out. A lot of times I get more BSM alerts but they're always a normal offender.. just way out or several lanes over.

It's funny how it's ability to pick up BSM really shows the range difference.

I tried that last night, and those numbers look just about right. TSF is definitely more quiet than Belscort's TSR though. Plus you have to run Auto on the M3s if you want to filter out the Acuras.

From testing just a week ago it looks like the Redlines Tsr delay is 600ms

Iirc +Auto increases this to 1-1.1secs

There at the end even on auto+tsr the Redline was unbearable

I may have to try TSR on. I’ve been lucky though. In my normal driving area, I haven’t seen legit k band since probably October or longer. I think all the locals have gone either 33.8 or 35.5.

I'm in the same boat. There is just enough k band left to be a pain in the @ss.I drive through 3 counties on my daily commute.I can go weeks without seeing it,and BAM! out of nowhere I'll get hit with 24.150 IO. It's kinda like when i was waiting for X band to get the hell out of here.

I also run K 100%, K filter, and TSF on and used to run TSF off, K filter, and K 70%. I have cut down BSM to "negligible" and have gotten great K-band range, even on sloppy K-band I/O. If the cops were proficient with K-band I/O, perhaps I would change it.

It looks as though I may have the vibration problem beat with my R3. I am using my Redline Sticky Cup and made a ghetto fix that seems to work. It doesn't look all that bad and from the drivers seat I don't see it. The problem with the Uniden is the weight is all at the back where the mute and mark buttons are. I measured out about 4 inches of zip tie from the knuckle and using some heat (propane torch) I placed a good back bend in the zip tie to about 70 degrees. On the end of the tie, I attached a small piece of soft rubber to avoid scratching the RD. The tie is fed from the W/S side (or the front) of the mount between the pivot and the RD tab.
So, when the RD is placed in the W/S mount, the zip tie presses down near the volume control and deletes the vibration near 75%. DSCN2685.JPG
