"Police reported ahead on Xxxxx Avenue, one minute ago". Are you kidding me??? Well done, John.
Absolutely agree! I can't believe that I nearly didn't try CSA out because it reads, "You probably should not enable this when running any other crowd-sourced alerting app. This will use additional data." in the settings for CSA. I might have tried it out eventually, but not as I was getting familiar with basic operation.
Have an observation to report, @johnboy00 . Today I saw a cop marked in Waze dead ahead of me on the road I was on, but on the opposing side of the road. I have CSA pretty much set to defaults with "Same Road Only" and "Reverse Geocode Alert Locations" both being on, and Minimum Alert Range being set to 2 miles. The Same Road Failsafe was set to the default 5 degrees. JBV1 never alerted me to the marked police location.
Again, it was dead straight ahead of me.
Was this a divided highway with no curve at all? Can you upload a map that shows approximate position of marker and your approach?
Cop was reported (and in fact was at) the blue arrow on the northbound side of the road. I noticed it marked on Daze while at the red arrow, heading south.
Do you have the alert map enabled?
[doublepost=1520879843,1520878472][/doublepost]Found a bug when alert map enabled. Will release a fix within the next couple hours. If you can't wait, disable the alert map as a workaround.
[doublepost=1520882314][/doublepost]0.9.71 released to address this issue. I also removed the 5-minute delay in indicating an alert feed failure.
Yuppers. I'll let you know if it happens again after 0.9.71.
Thanks for the initial report!
Does CSA work without having the V1 turned on? For example, could I run with the Uniden R3 and CSA on my phone?
Posted from my Studio XL 2 using the RDF Mobile App!
No, it requires a connection to a V1.
Ho Ho Ho! Sorry, no cakes and eating them too.
The Democratic Peoples Republic of Valentine demands TOTAL loyalty of it's subjects. Madame Guillotine awaits splitters.
If you're going to do that... why not just run the Daze app?
Daze won't alert you up to 3 miles away, or 4.24 miles away if the mark is in a corner of the alert box.
I've maybe noticed something that might help. The last two updates of JBV1 I've noticed that CSA doesn't seem to work after updating until I turn CSA off and on again. Right away it then alerts me to what I'm expecting to see. BUT, take my observations with a grain of salt...
What are your CSA settings?
Everything is "off" except:
Alerts in Overlay
Minimum Alert Range is 1 mi,default
Maximum Approach Angle is 180 degrees (for now, because it's fun to mark an LEO and see the alert pop up )
Somewhat related but not important; I got marked as LEO the other day and I wouldn't have noticed if not for the CSA alert. Currently driving a black 2018 Charger R/T with extra temporary tint-band stickers. (Hides the V1)
Hey Johnboy00, I have bad news.
On the new stock Android 7.1.1 phone with only JBV1 and W@ze installed, CSA did not alert me to something I was seeing on W@ze until I flipped CSA off and on real quick. I don't mind, but it could cause issues for a new user that doesn't think to try that.
It might be the act of installing or upgrading combined with going through all the settings while disconnected from the V1. Once I've done the off and on again while connected to the V1 process, everything seems great regardless of how many times I use JBV1, reboot, etc. It's just that first time after an install or update.
I hope that helps!
Really looking forward to the new changes you mentioned in another thread!
Hmm, I have CSA on, and have never seen an alert. I better try this.
I have CSA on, I've never had to do this, and I get alerts.
But I'll look into it anyway. Thanks...
Yeah, I totally understand. That's why I threw out the idea that setting up a new install/upgrade before connecting to a V1 might be part of it. So far, I've always looked through the settings and made sure they all made sense before going out to the car and running everything for real.
I'm not rooted. Maybe you are working with rooted devices and there's the tiniest difference? (I'd expect that you are rooted.)
I'm sure I'm reaching here.
Perhaps mrmagloo and LeftLaneinPA can add their experiences to this.
To be really clear for anyone that want's to try this;
After an install or upgrade...
I can see the LEO dot close by on W@ze (current version) but no CSA alerting.
I turn CSA mode off and on real quick. (Click the gear symbol, CSA, CSA)
Right away I get CSA alerts.
From that point on, it works great until I upgrade JBV1 again.
