I have messaged demon about it, but he seems quite hesitant to give it to me, i guess the only option now would be the blulink place someone else had mentioned?

    Yo guys,

I just want to acknowledged that we have some really talented guys on the NZ part of the forum. And i ain't talking about me.

@DEMON5 cracked the Uniden NZ database for us, and @Aucklandradar has figured out how to load an international S&RLC database to US version Escorts.

I haven't heard of either being done anywhere else. good work guys, you're keeping the Kiwi faction of RDF at the top of it's game.

    :)

Very kind words @Tseven007, I plan on releasing another updated R3 database next week.
This should go well with the new R3 firmware that's being beta tested right now.. hopefully we see segmented low sweeping K band soon.

I just gave blulink a ring, and apparently if you do flash to the newest 1.37 firmware, you will void your 1 year warranty. so for those of us out there that have bought from radardirect or blulink or other r3nz retailers, do keep this in mind

    Nah... not a problem.
If they want to try that **** here's the work around....

1, just Flash it back to 1.31, I have all the firmware versions and loaders, let me know if you need copies.

    Or...

2, open the device, syrategicly tamper with the main board to prevent the device from even powering up. Use a battery and two wires to try and short circuit the device. Hell, even flick a couple of those miniature diodes or resisters off the mainboard. Return it to the shop with a dumb look on your face exclaiming "it just stopped working.

    Job done.... lol

Might be because you've got no millage yet, you've only posted 3 times in 2 months. It is something he has done for the RD community.

Anyway... let me help you out....

    Yo @DEMON5 .... you around m8?

There you go, he'll get an alert that he's being talked about..... See what happens.

Hmm sounds like you have a plan, sounded strange to me when he said that it would be void. Funnier still is when the person on the phone said we have a unique "new zealand version" of the r3 which to my knowledge does not exist, we have literally the universal (american) version just with nz database and stuff.

yeah i'm with you mate, i don't reckon ours is any different. i have a US R1, performance is excellent, cant tell the difference between that and my NZ R3.

BTW, I have up dated my NZ R3 every time new firmware is released, never had a problem, I've loaded Demon5's datebase back on several times, no issues.

    Just a tip off.... Maybe...
Called this joint about a fortnight ago and had a good 20min chat.
Was told that he had the R3 Australian update posted on his website.
Where it is tho I'm unsure as I have not had time to check thoroughly and the site seems to have no update or firmware tab.
Have a flick through and try your luck

Better yet, give them a call. The bloke is a good chat about tings. :) I had a good yarn with him. He's a chill dude. Maybe he can help, but he might hold out unless you have purchased an r3 through him. However... I only enquired and I got told there is an R3 update on his website for Australia. They also said they were doing some form of testing for uniden apparently. That's word on the grapevine....

I cant find it there either, must be a very obscure link if it's there... nah i wont bother contacting them, I don't need their firmware update or any of their services for that matter.

Purely just curious if they had a downloadable update, my gut feeling is that they don't, Once again i believe it would destroy the Uniden R3 market in AU and NZ.
There will be dealer agreement that wont let them release it (yet)

Having said that... if the update is there, please show me :)

Same company as dontgetcaught. There might be a secret website link with the latest db you get by email if you have bought an R3 from them

Guys, I'm fairly certain that NO retailers have the exclusive NZ AU database. Uniden Australia creates these databases and only they and Blulink NZ have them. Uniden Australia supply the few Australian distributors with R3's with the database loaded on, as do Blulink supply Radar Direct the same thing here in NZ. This all comes at a premium cost though, Uniden AU and Blulink NZ charge a royalty for these 'EXCLUSIVE' retailers to have Uniden R3's with New Zealand & Australian databases... there is no way they would give database files to the retailers let alone the general public, hence this is where I come in :)

I searched the site too and found nothing. Private link maybe for people who purchase one from them maybe?
Thing is they sell them, so doubt they will just hand over an update for your U.S import on demand.
Got me wondering what update it actually is or whether it was a sales pitch.
I was told they were working a little with uniden testing the product, so maybe they are on the verge of a new break through?
If uniden supply cops with equipment E. G cb radios (I've no idea), wouldn't be surprised if a deal has been cut with uniden to hold back availability or maybe limit the numbers. W. A is so lucky, seeing as the government has banned use in the rest of Australia. So they definitely have the power and I'm surprised to this day its still allowed and they are yet to close the window on the whole state in line with the rest of Oz.
When the jammers got banned I thought it wouldn't be long before they follow through and canned the lot. Report here says the jam ban was long overdue and the gov were happy the legislation finally passed.
