Just heading home from San Antonio and noticed several State boys with customers but the R3 never made a peep. I know its working, as I picked up plenty of San Antonio's finest in town.

Is the state moving to lidar? I didn't even pick up I/O whiffs with these guys. Luckily waze had them all pinned.

There was a sheriff just north of Georgetown that was definitely shooting lidar. He was perpendicular to 35 with the drivers side door open wide.

DPS is quite more consistent with turning off their guns when stopped with someone. They seem to cluster a five to ten mile area many times close to the local dps office(work is hard right, why go further). I’ve been seeing lots of Tahoe with K band, and some yes with Lidar. I did go by a Tahoe today perpendicular to the road and was all silent including lidar so I’m not sure what to think. Some are just that diligent they’ll only pick one of 20 to shoot.

I think the biggest waze effect has been dps drives opposite traffic on the service roads (where they are two way) and keep moving with 34.7 io rather than sitting stationary.

I passed 5 of them with Godzilla R1 last week, never got a peep. Some were just cruising, watching traffic,or at a traffic stop. @aim4squirrels

Yeah, that's what I figured. It's just unnerving to see so many of them in attack formation and not get an alert.

Last year, I seen as many as 12 TX DPS near July 4th on the way to Lubbock with zero radar hits. They were all just cruisin on by.

Saw a Tahoe parked parallel on shoulder tonight, no peeps and I get miles long 34.7 pickups with the net and nothing. Suspiciously looked like mirror shooting to me but he was on the other side of the highway.

I seen a dps officer shooting an ultralyte outside of Houston 2 weeks ago. I mostly see I/o radar from them with laser here and there.

I pass alot of them running nothing. They are usually going fast in the passing lane. If they are slow rolling, watch out! Not much lidar in Panhandle area. Hope that stays the same!

Pretty much if they are on the freeway, they are doing traffic enforcement around here. They prefer to run plates/check stickers on the side/back roads.

They ever throw Mobile scales up for non commercial vehicles
They do that in NC

Ever have a license check
In the middle of the day on a blind off ramp

We don't do check points in Texas. That's why we kicked the British out.

I noticed their tactics has gotten much better over the last few years. Use to be I will catch more than half radiating before I get into visual range. Now less than a quarter and that is being generous. This has to be a coordinated tactical change from either better training or other sources.

Down here in the valley they camp on the shoulder immediately after an overpass. Not too many folks run CMs down here and it is easy pickings. Popular spots in McAllen/Mission are past Ware Rd and Shary Rd exits going west, and Los Ebanos/Conway/Bryan Rd exits coming east.
In the mid valley they do sometimes run radar at the weigh station in Alamo area. In Mercedes coming west passing the floodway a unit can usually be found on the shoulder.
Towards Harlingen going east either DPS or La Feria Pd camp out before or after exit to La Feria. Past Altas Palmas and the following exit or 2 right before Harlingen either DPS or PD camp out. Same scenario going west bound.

Reviving this thread.

I use the Chisholm Trail tollway in Fort Worth. Several months ago, I passed a Trooper that was on the side of the road and my R3 did not make a sound. I thought, OK, he's using IO or he's just not using radar right now. This happened four more times, that last being yesterday! That's a total of five times in the last several months! So, maybe there's something going on that we don't know. I'm using Highway mode, Ka segs 2,4,5,6,8, POP off.

Doing paperwork or whatever, probably. Being visible while they do it.

I'm somewhat new to Texas, is there much in the way of airborne activity? I'm guessing along the long straight highways like 35 there might be some?

I haven't seen or heard of any activity. I doubt they would spend the money when the DPS can write tickets all day, every day with deadly I/O or break out the Stalker XLR/RLRs and "shoot fish out of the barrel"!
