I think there was this exact concern for a while and then not long ago they seemed to redouble their efforts for the US market when they released the fiber product.

It's one thing to be critical of a manufacturer and a product for legit concerns but completely and utterly uncalled for when you criticize the users because they decided to spend their money on it. Everyone has their financial thresholds and frankly, it shouldn't matter and you shouldn't care. This user group is supposed to be on the same side. Everyone gets to spend their own money how they like, they earned it. So as long as it's not hurting you let's be respectful.

Now this is what the conversation should be about. I don't even own this system and not sure I would but I am sure interested in them succeeding. It's great for the industry. Constructive criticism is helpful, not bashing people for wanting a fancy expensive system.

Not to imply that this system doesn't seem to be one of the more buggy ones, but I think there are plenty of people who don't have many complaints. I know several that have this system, outside of this forum, and love it. But they are also not as geeky and into the technical side of these things. I'm not sure there is any system discussed here that has not been criticized to some degree.
Hey... Didn't tell anyone what to spend their cash on. Whatever floats your boat so to speak. My opinion is valid. Like it or not. I've watched gamblers throw money in slot machines with poor odds of winning. I never stopped them, but still found it backwards to see them do it. That said you've got to be in it to win it. If I do the maths correctly, I'll increase my odds.
So with this device who's winning here? What people find enjoyable is held within themselves. We've all made bad decisions in life and had to face peoples criticism. You'll always get this no matter what people decide is best for them and express. Let it roll off like water off a ducks back and roll with the punches man. This is like watching lemmings jump off a cliff every time I hear about this product. Except on the way down they loose a bit of money. I'm getting a bit sick to death of manufacturers claims, and am of firm belief, people should get what they pay for, or at least their moneys worth for what the product claims. In this instance, I'm actually feeling sorry for customers of this company and I'm not being sarcastic. More sorry than me not being able to afford it (I'd probably steal one instead ha!).
At the same time I'm the type of person to say you can't take your house and money with you when you die. The tombs in the pyramids are proof of this.
Some poor buggars going to save their pennies, maybe under the impression that the more expensive it is, the better performance it may be, and the support will be top notch.
Bloke drives down the road, gets a fine after a pro install because it falses a cop.
I understand and allow for margins of error on installs, user error and things like that. Understandable...
What isn't - Does it say on the box anywhere near the price tag that it comes with bugs and teething problems as people have described? Is that like a free bonus or something?
This makes numberplate covers and some coins in the bank for the lawyer look 100 times more appealing, seeing as this could take you that direction.
It's a blurry line when claims are made, then they're used in places where they are illegal and then fail on you, and you're left with your support taken out in front of a judge.
Is that a joke and a good laugh for the manufacturer seeing as they are sitting on a few grand of yours while you're in a jail cell in disbelief wondering how did this happen? Considering you forked out all this money in an attempt to make sure it didn't? That's my aggressive argument... Companies should take this into account and leave a little breathing space in consideration, or room for error, and compensate with the price of the device, or assist in paying the fine like some others do.
Apologies for this but had to get that off my chest. I respect everyone and don't aim things personally to users, but things like this do have a substantial affect on people's lives.
The up side to this device... I like it the layout and design. The stealth install and size of the kit overall is actually fantastic. I can't knock that. The idea is genius, and I'm happy to pat them (Stinger) on the back for that. It is actually next level tech design. I've no arguments there. Install is easy and slim when it having to poke cable through firewalls and front grills. Excellent. It's definitely got positives, so I will give credit where that's due.
I just tend to factor in, the bigger picture/worst case scenario when using a device. At the end of the day, speed enforcement is no laughing matter and they get the last say. It's important to have a counter measure in place or safety net for this as well (legal advice or lawyers). Unsure if they squash cars into a solid blocks with a crusher/shredder, for serial speeding in USA? Anyway... Think I've got my point of view across, and this scenario may not apply where others live. I'm understanding it's not a one style suits all approach of countermeasure. If you live in a place where it's a slap on the wrist for this type of thing, I'd say fair enough. But seeing as stinger sell this in some places where it isn't, they will have varying levels of feedback or complaints when this fails to perform as claimed.

When I see things like $7000 with install, and it fails to do the job as described, and I hate to put it this way - seeing as I'm not a cashed up person either, so call me a peasant, I've got thick skin for the internet. Unless you're a tester of this unit, you've probably got more money than sense. And if that's the case, I hope this at least gets people a leg up, with multiple good looking sexual partners who sit in the car and stare at it in awe thinking it's such a wonderful thing. I think people are mad to invest in this. Maybe it's just me, and I'll be happy to step down and be proved wrong if it's such a solid product. Honestly, I think this is one of the most overrated, overpriced, talked up pieces of tech, for deep pocketed punters I've ever seen. I'm probably going to cop a warning for saying this, but if I'd spent that money and had these issues, I'd be absolutely furious. Where I'm from $10000 is a house deposit. Emails to the company falling on deaf ears? OK, like I said, I'll probably get done here for hammering down on a company, but c'mon, that's alot of money there. Bit tough to take it on the chin isn't it? I know I'm not the only one thinking this, probably the only one to type it though. Handing over a sum of money like that only to be left in hope of things to come? This just keeps sounding like a premature underdeveloped cash grab to stay in the game whilst dazzling people with pretty lights on big displays. I'm over this thing. They need to seriously lift their game and that's no joke. Actual highway robbery, but maybe considered as chump change for someone with a $200000+ car, so they let it slide. Sorry people for a bit of a rant, but c'mon. This company sounds like it's going to go under and leave people in the lurch if they don't pull their finger out and quit mucking around. :flame:
I'll take one for the team here, as I'm not impressed. I feel sorry for people when I read and hear these stories. Everyone wants to see this setup succeed, including me. With the amount of cash getting splashed on this, I cannot understand why it is struggling and getting burnt by much cheaper portables. I've zero faith in this setup out of everything I've seen, ever. I'll probably end up deleting this post if I'm asked, or as I'll cool back down to room temperature eventually and see the errors and imperfections of my ways. If only Stinger could do the same.
Stinger.... Of your wallet. Stab those bank notes with an irreversible one way barbed stinger.
Couldn't you just pay about 50 speeding fines and still come out with change? Or maybe it's only about 4.5 fines where I'm at. :eyebrow:

You sir... Need to be questioned. How come your setup works so well? That's excellent to hear... for once... and probably the only time I've heard someone have zero complaints.
Why this product is so hit and miss is strange as...
Nice car too man!
I had a ticket on the 30th of june , 160 euros, it is to much, i tought i was safe, i only drove 158 km/h,
i went to see in the log but nothing to find. I can not trust the system, nor can i learn from the log files
i have the timefraime from the ticket and use
gps-coordinaten-converteren

but no correspondence , no clue , no
For good measure I verified the time and odometer settings on the stinger : they are correct.

Sorry to hear this.
I looked at stinger as one of the best redflex camera detection systems. Because of this I actually hold it in high regards. There is plenty of incapable devices that cannot deal with this camera. I have stinger in my pool of possibilities because of this. The options are fairly slim. Many mixed opinions on stingers overall abilities. I can't make heads nor tails on this. Is it car placement, or user error or device problem? Some work, some don't. Hopefully the company don't let a fix lag on too long.

Who the hell let the poors in here? ;)

The thing is the reviews were impressive when many of us bought into Stinger system. Yeah, it’s an expensive system. But, I see dudes with a set of $2500 rims on a $10,000 car which I find rather stupid versus a $6000 system on a $100k car.

To each their own. It’s your money. Spend it how it makes you happy. True value is personal.

Ill add having said that, we certainly have every right to judge the quality of a product and hold manufacturers to their claims. I have a lot of interest in Stinger so I’m carefully watching how things like this play out.

That depends. Are they coming from Stinger and do they actually have to strip?

Not quite what I was imagining to be honest...
Stinger should get this system solid, or the only thing being stripped is a drivers licence.

Hmmm, Stinger is highly rated against Redflex apparently. Interesting. I'll be watching this space out of curiosity. Good work from them to be so swift in response. That's good at least. Anything dealing with RedFlex, I like to study it's features and ability and take into account the devices price range to do the job.
Of all devices, I'm still waiting on this "mystery" one that radar busters used in a video. They didn't say what it was but showed it's performance, and announced that all would be revealed when it was released (obviously!). This thing was giving huge range alerts, and second to it was radenso xp which did a great job as well. Couple of kiwi guys working on the Uniden dfr7nz version at the moment too if that's something that interests you.

i agree , i will combine with a windshield detector

i watched a youtube from vortex YOUTUBE vortex demonstration of rd behaviour

They are all Awesome , i wonder should i still go for the GENOVO MAX? are they all RDD resilient ? Due to the corona situation everything is on hold, driving too, so i still have time VORTEX GENOVO max still the option to go ?
if i remember de RADENSO pro M is in fact a GENOVO MAX clone or vice versa.

very nice movie , very much appreciated VORTEX !

Thanks for the update - I wondered what happened to this very expensive system.
Due to corona and border closure with holland , my upgrade is still in the pipe, i was to
1. install the 4 viber stinger
2. the direct to fuse cable for the genovo max
3. The shiptuning and lift VMAX on my amg cla45

It was planned for 2 of may .... we will see

The comments on the VORTEX STINGER VIP MANUAL , i submitted to Stinger is still on hold , i suppose marcel is struck by the corona , he was going to contact me this month, but nothing heard of since a month, i will shake the tree again and send him a mail once more today , as i am doing tele-work .

In early 2016 I decided to purchase a Stinger VIP with 1 front antenna to replace my Beltronics STiR-Plus. At the time car BSM systems were becoming more and more common and the custom installed radar detectors available like the Escort 9500ci and it's cousin the Beltronics STiR-Plus just couldn't filter them. If you drove on a busy highway you'd frequently get
.
.
.
.
Ugly
* Display is hard to read with polarized glasses
* Audio alerts are quiet for K/Laser
* Poor ramp-up
* Touching the display often results in a double press, muting and unmuting the alert
* Auto-brightness randomly stops working
* Only a single radar frequency is displayed at a time unless you use the impractical spectrum analyzer mode
* GPS and BSM filtering both display as "FalseList" with no differentiation

TL;DR - The Stinger VIP was promising but Stinger has failed to make a reliable radar detector after more than 2 years of development. Maybe someday they'll finish it, but for now I would avoid it.
I completely agree with your analysis, i too struggle with the stinger VIP , that's why a windshield rd ( genevo max ) will assist the stinger.
It is unreliable , or difficult to trust on its own, or difficult and hazardous to interprete.
I hope my new 4 fiber front installation will give me some ease of mind.
