Received email from Stinger touting their new all fiber laser system . The marketing material (Stinger USA) stated that it had "Unsurpassed performance". I sent an email asking if there were going to be doing any testing. Reply was "We are having independent test done for the fiber laser in the upcoming months." I replied back stating hopefuly they would publish the results here.

Received this info from Stinger HQ here in the Netherlands: “Recently, we have invested heavily in development for the US. This has had the effect that we have had to leave certain things elsewhere, by necessity. Now that the US project has been completed, we will focus on other things again. We work on development and software every day. The result is not always directly convertible into software suitable for customers. With our system, which is entirely developed and produced by ourselves, we think we have a beautiful system that can work together seamlessly, with a few choices in terms of interfaces (display or strip), and a very sensitive patch antenna (antenna on a printed circuit board) and with the smallest laser eyes in the world, to have the best basis in this field.
So I wonder how Stinger works anno April 2019

" Now that the US project has been completed, we will focus on other things again" makes me super scared as a former Stinger customer. I really wish I'm wrong.

Like I really feel for our EU/OZ friends who feel even more left out than USA customers, but the latest updates and maybe the new laser system do seem like a step in the right direction for the USA but I'm not really hearing from @mikedotd and others like it's sounding like this is a Max Ci 360 killer (which I think is where Stinger ought to be given the price point and premium engineering reputation). Not to be too harsh to them, but honestly what was described in the latest update is how the original 1.0 USA product should've been. And an upward trajectory from there.

thanks

for all the fish

Maybe they meant to say " now that we have basically given up on the USA" ...

Great write up and review.
I’m also a longtime (3+ year) user. Have seen some of the K issues but not really a threat locally. Ka is the primary radar threat. I haven’t seen a fail here.
Laser is the real threat and in that area my VIP shines! I’ve had numerous saves and haven’t had a close inspection since installing older square receivers and fiber transmitters.
The new fiber won’t interface with my early system? That kind of sucks as I still need rear laser coverage.
What say you?

Are you running a LAB or Freedom system?

I seem to be having issues with my RX sensors they aren't alerting the way they used to, this seems to be fairly recent too, so not sure if its result of the LAB or one or more of the sensors.

you just cant trust Stinger in the real world
My laser system was solid for ages, but I'm not sure ATM.
It can be trusted but like any system it still needs to be tested regularly, I have problems with my laser ATM but I am working through that with Paul, he's pretty awesome.
