Anyone received their V1G2 and tested it with Redflex in NZ?
Soon, grasshopper, soon. It's soaring the blue skys on its way to me on silver wings.
I just hope the bugger powers up.

Just a heads up, for anyone on a Sunday stroll down Highbrook Dr.

Cop with a radar gun standing on the footpath around 5:20pm picking off east bound traffic.
When he got a car, he walked into the oncoming cars lane & directed it into the driveway of Absolute Marine 1/13 Highbrook Drive.
His patrol car was parked off the road & down the driveway, mostly out of sight until you drive past it.
Total stealth move.
He must of had a field day

Are you sure it was radar? I thought they only had Lidar guns.

Just a few weeks ago, I saw a complete relay of three police units with their lasers out synchronised in tandem on SH1 north of Wellington. Whilst two were busy issuing tickets to different drivers, the third was back at the start, gun in hand targeting the next car to emerge over the hill. When the last one finished issuing ticket he'd go back to the start and repeat. Complete carnage. Never seen such blatant revenue gathering.

How to train up new cops whilst also funding next years Christmas party! Perhaps I should turn up with my stalker and lend a hand, at least those with some basic CM would get better warning!?

I think you got that right, training new copbots from the Police College.
Probably applying a 4 km/h tolerance too, so that they get plenty of action.

MOT did the same thing with point duty training, one in the intersection, the others laughing at him.

I'm slowly coming around to the idea of a V1 Gen 2 and pairing it with an app even though being an iPhone user it involves me having to run a dedicated android phone with JBV1 which I will have to mount and dismount everytime Im in and out of the car. It's clear that JBV1 is the app to have. I've had a few V1's over the years but the reason I never used a V1 as my primary detector were 2 main reasons.
Terrible laser falsing, even though over the years of being a V1 user I had many many laser saves due to picking up scatter from cars ahead, the laser falses became a joke. Reports suggest the V1G2 isn't falsing to laser as much as the original V1.
Terrible off-axis 34.7 detection! This became evident when the M3 platform was released with the Bel STi Driver, it truly showed how horrible the V1 was off-axis and with elevation changes.. This was magnified even more with the release of the Redline and then ultimately The Uniden R3. The V1G2 shows it is greatly improved in this area which is great.
I do like the sleek size and look of the V1G2 but Im waiting for someone on here to show how well it's does against mobile redflex k band.

Well, I'll do my best for you. But the van is like a needle in a haystack around here. I will take a run over to the SH29 pole mount though. I've done that enough times with two Gen 1's that I'll have a very good idea if it's better.
Hopefully there are sone other Gen2's coming and they're for people on here.

I just posted some more of my testing videos for the 'DFR9 for NZ'.

Post automatically merged:

Okay, finally after two months I got the NZ Police response to key parts of my OIA request.

So, whilst some parts remain outstanding which they forwarded to Auckland transport, they have now confirmed in writing:

1) The three redflex cameras outside the Auckland tunnel are no longer in operation even though the cameras physically remain. Apparently the purpose of these cameras was to provide enforcement when the tunnel opened, and before the cameras within the tunnel were considered to be 'suitable for enforcement'.

2) NZ Police confirmed that although the redlight cameras do record the speed, they do not use these cameras for speed enforcement regardless as to the colour of the light.

Therefore, I can probably update my database to remove the three cameras outside the tunnel. This would also explain why they were not covered in my earlier OIA request.

I could also remove the speed alerts for the redlight cameras. However, since we now know they can also record the speed, I think I will leave the speed warning. You never know when they could change their policy without notice and start issuing extra tickets.

Does anyone have any comments/suggestions on these points?

Suggest leaving the alerts there, the warning will cause a hesitation and stop planting the foot to get through a amber light?

MY NEW 2.18 / 22 MARCH 2020 GPS DATABASE IS NOW AVAILABLE!!

So after my latest OIA request results, I've finally updated my NZ database which should now be complete. I've removed the three cameras outside the Auckland tunnel, since these are confirmed to be decommissioned and not issuing tickets. I've also removed several of the older remaining old older ones from around Auckland.

I have also marked the entrance of the tunnel from both directions with a speed warning (gps doesn't work in the tunnel itself!)

Separately, I've also now tested the new 153 R3 firmware, and put it back together again with a few additional mods I worked on previously.

Can people send me a PM if they'd like the new update. It's easier for me to respond this way, rather than trying to member to contact everyone at the same time.

@winterbrew How is the new R3 firmware looking on MRCD? Do you think it is better than 1.46 for Au?

Hoping to run past the MRCT cam later today/tomorrow - will let you know. It will also tell me if they've fixed poliscan laser detection - the R3 now alerts to poliscan on my hand held tester.

Looking good ;

Longer range initial K band detection than the R7 on 1.29.

1.46 has a known problem where K band alert delay is introduced using TSF On (I never use TSF on anyway), so looks like 1.53 is the new king. I've not seen any other problems from US testing ?

Looks like when I created the new NZ database file it didn't overwrite my previous version. Therefore for those of you who have already received the new version, I'll be sending out a replacement file. I've also changed the date to today so it can be installed directly over the top and will only need to install the database part.

Sorry about that.

Trying to sort out the origin of the above issue. That was lucky I noticed that. Because I run two operating systems on my mac, I think my mac must have reverted the file that was updated in the other system. Think I'll be building all the files on the Raspberry Pi in future to ensure this doesn't happen. No harm done, and files are all verified for errors anyway, but it's a pain if I'm not sending out the version I intended!
