Gentlemen, politics is off-limits on the forums.
If you are interested in discussing NZ politics I suggest you ask Xydrine to create you a social-group- then we can talk about Jacinda, and eggeboy etc etc.

Thank you.

So you say there is no link between politics, road safety and revenue collecting?

Your one of them arn't you, mission creep like the term 'hate speech' use it as a pretext to shut people up. It's not about a politics, it's about keeping our roads safe and if we hve to out the idiots then so be it. I am quite happy for you to have me removed from the forum, that might suit you even better.

Kiwi H2 I call bs on your batman detector being able to detect redflex from any useful range over what current detectors can detect it from.

Unless you can post any proof I'd be more than happy for you to be removed... Either by an admin or on your own accord.

On many of occasions you've posted incorrect information regarding radar detectors.. For example claiming they only have a 12 degree range in which they can detector radar in.

As before. Forums rules and for a good reason.

If you would like to talk politics there is a social group section available. Politics is kept to one section as it can get heated with various political opinions.

Further to add to what @Aucklandradar mentioned... I too would be very keen to see some preliminary test results on the custom batman detector detecting redflex at any reasonable range.

From my experience all these "el cheapo" garbage detectors have pisspoor raw detection performance in general, from my own experience and vortex radar's videos (the new one with the r7 tests).
If the batman has some "secret" untapped potential as a detector it may be a good thing for us all to buy one for fun and try unlock said potential.

Interesting turn of events.

In other news, on holiday up north at the mo and while I didn't expect to be doing any driving, I have of course ended up driving an unfamiliar (and somewhat humongous) vehicle in somewhat unfamiliar territory - but man! I feel naked out there without my RD. Should've put in the the suitcase...

Oh yeah, I know that feeling! Check facebook marketplace out, could find yourself a bargain if you have some cash to spare.

Lol! Waiting to see what the app support is like ;-). Seriously though, I'm keeping an eye out to see if a keen Kiwi early adopter will take the plunge and post some real world results. Won't be me for a while in any case but if the overall package can out compete the v1 + JBV1, I'll take an interest...

Look, you guys can post about revenue collection and how that kind of crap intersects with the hobby, but don't post politically driven posts/threads - stuff that would cause a rift between members, attack members for political ideology, crap like that. The politics rule mainly applies to POLITICS - not necessarily policies. Policies are different from politics.

Use your best judgement - if you want to discuss POLITICS, leave it for the MRGA social group or the chat room. If you want to talk about revenue generating policies and that kind of stuff, that should not be a problem.

When you get into the area where you post stuff regarding politics that may offend others on a political basis, that's the kind of politics that we don't want on the mainstream forum.

Overthinking the rule is not helpful - use sound judgement and you will be fine.

The angled display is putting me off, will look pretty strange on the windscreen on a RHD car. Everything else looks good.

Unfortunately, in this country with one centralised Government, one highly politicised police force, one Government party determined to disincentivise private vehicle use, it is impossible to discuss any aspects of road safety/enforcement without there being a political aspect to it.
We are vastly different to, say, the USA. Or even Australia.
To my mind, this discussion did not arouse any political angst.

Agreed, but there is a possibility- hence the social group for politics. Hence why I just posted what I thought was a friendly reminder. I was either I was too firm, or our friend took it personally.

It puts me off too. I have my V1 mounted to the left of the rear-view mirror so it's basically impossible to see it from the drivers seat (it also angles for LHD), but since I use the phone for all the alert data I have the V1 display turned off anyway. If Uniden did something similar / released an sdk for community app developers then it might have possibilities.
