Had my first real detection with my newly installed Radenso RC-M. I was stunned at this detection. I at first thought there must of been a leo behind me, but the alerts didn't indicate that. I guess I need to get the rear antenna installed to be sure! Fairly straight road but lots of small hills. This detection is split up into 3 videos because of my loop recording on the dash cam. I have also sped up the videos to spare you from my conversations with the wifey and 2 kids and the fact that we werent able to drive faster than 45 making it long.... @studio1930 have you ever seen a detection like this with your RC-M in rolling terrain?

@KCsilverado Nice Video. Yes, I have done my own controlled tests in rolling hills exactly like that. I can get 6+ mile detections in those situations with a signal strength of Ka6 to Ka8 even when at the 6-mile distance. This is because of antenna alignment as you roll over a hill. The RCM is very sensitive and has no issue detecting for many miles. This is why I laugh at posts that think a 3-mile detection is amazing. When normal police (not 60-degree off-axis shots) are shooting stationary or moving radar that is on or near on-axis, the RCM (and many other detectors) will pick this up for miles and miles.

Older example of the RCM that I did (Yellow means beeping):

I especially like the Elevation Graph. If you imagine the radar signal like the 'wind' coming from his kill zone towards you, I notice that whenever you are on the immediate "Leeward" side of a hill, you would lose signal. It would pick up again as you crested the top, and repeated this until around zone 3 where you were close enough for the valleys not to matter as much due to the stronger signal (and also how the dead zones get narrower until you are close enough for it to not matter as much).
    Well done.

(Cool, this is my 300th message... This is SPARTA! ) :hist101:

    Yes! Wind. Good analogy.

You could also think of the radar source like a big 'ol spotlight. If you're in the shadows, you're somewhat less likely to pick things up... although you may still sniff out a signal... kind of like indirect light.

When it warms up we will have to get together to do some testing. I finally got my TX ALP head installed too! I want a rematch against your Dragon!
