Haha. Sounds like it but I suppose it's important only if their shop floor isn't level.

The ALP is a better system than the 360CI.

There's really only so much research you can do online. Sounds like they have a good reputation. Check if you can find other customers on social media and local forums.

Sounds like they haven't done any Ferraris and are erring on the side of caution.. ie: price. They're not going to lowball you on a quote and come back later saying it'll be another $1K.

You have a general idea of the actual labour it would take on a regular vehicle.

You want it cheap, fast, or done right. You only get two.

ALP system give best protection to all LIDAR units. They also provide a ton of great updates and are the innovator in the industry. Their new TX head is a example of how they are planning for future, while escort simply copied their old technology.

"They recommended the Escort Max 360CI."

This is because they get paid more money on margin side by recommending this product.

Good god, $6500 for an ALP install. That's insane to me. Ferrari or not it's just a car and they all basically work the same. The only thing I can guess is maybe they have to log the car with their insurance? And they have to cover the vehicle for damages while it's in there??? OP is right, this sounds like a Ferrari Tax.

No wonder Leno refuses to own one.

ALP is the only way to go!! Constant updates when need arises---Look at escort all they want is your money and to never see updates (they talk allot) but zero results! Plus ALP is the only system that can jam every single gun, no matter if it even has the latest Software--I would not give Escort 1 Cent for their overpriced under performing, never updated products!!

If you need laser protection you buy ALP... Escort jammers are joke... bad copy paste of the ALP...

I was told by the installer that the TX (smaller) shifters need 20" about the ground to work. I don't have that height in the front.

That is true, but a correct 3 standard head ALP front install will jam everything currently in LEO's hands.

That is correct. It will be an issue if the TX is mounted any lower.

I have seen several people here on RDF post pics with shops that level the vehicle when doing installs. There is a GTS on here somewhere and here is another vehicle.

If you want to see good installs - Do a search for F/X Audio. They do unreal work up in Edmonton (Which is only 10hours from Spokcompton).

They're installs cost what you're paying (in CAD, so youd get it even cheaper in USD) so if this shops work isn't anywhere near what F/X puts out it's way too much IMO..

You should share which shop it is so we can see their work and have a better judgement if its overprice for what you're getting.

    That's his name! Thanks @schissler I couldn't remember. I remember he did @DeerHunter 's Cayman.

FXAudio is a forum member. His installs are absolutely game changing. You could try and PM him for some advice.

    @Azilco ,

can you post pics of the front/rear of your car ? Those can be generic , so we have a better idea on the difficulty level involved.
I do all my installs and the hardest part is the routing thru the firewall , the second is routing
the wires for the rear sensors.
I understand you want a pro install for a car of this price , tjough i dont thimk it is necessary to dismantle half the front to get an efficient install.
Dont be fooled by marketing from other vendors , ALP is the top choice , here everybody agrees
on this choice ...you get the unbiased advice @ RDF...promised.

If you have time and are mechanically inclined , do it yourself or ask someone to drive to your home , pay his expenses , it will be cheaper ;) and better done.

That seems quite $$$. I seem to remember other members doing it/having it done for 2000-3000. Personally, I'd try to do it myself. But on a nice car......

For that $ I think I could visit every state, coast to coast, then come back to NJ!

You work on an expensive car, part of it is insurance for yourself. You need to be 100% sure and then some that your employees are being as careful as possible. You don't want someone opening the hood and thinking "what stupid kid did this?", that's what my ****box's audio system install looks like and I couldn't care less. However, if I was paying someone to do it, I would expect it to look factory OR BETTER. No obvious added wires, things properly aligned, set in a place that combines functionality and stealth/appearance.
